We’re looking for someone who is who’s eager to dive into the Westcoast natural gas business—helping us bring gas onto our system, allocate it to shippers, and support the full cycle from transportation to invoicing.

You’ll play a key role in replacing our legacy gas management system with a more efficient solution, streamlining legal and operational processes along the way. This role offers a mix of hands-on daily operations and analytical project work, giving you exposure to the core systems that keep our business running.

The Commercial Advisor is responsible for facilitating the execution of daily commercial activity on the Westcoast pipeline system. Drawing on extensive knowledge of the Westcoast pipeline system, as well as the natural gas industry in general, the incumbent will be a critical liaison between Enbridge internal groups and our customers’daily commercial teams. Your sharp analytical skills will help extract and assess gas volume, contracting, imbalance management, and revenue data to advise and support key teams in Commercial, Business Development, and Regulatory.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist high-profile, complex and/or significant customers as they use contracted services of the pipeline. Subject matter authority responding to customer inquiries related to:
    • All facets of the Daily Commercial Operations including nominations, scheduling, confirmations, allocations, curtailment, critical and noncritical notices, OBA’s, and imbalances,
    • Invoices (volumetric component)
    • Interpretation of operational policies and procedures and the tariff
  • Analyze, prioritize and address transportation and related customer problems/issues with other team members as well as Commercial, Volume Management, Scheduling and other interfacing departments, as appropriate. Has ultimate responsibility to ensure that customer receives timely resolution of all discrepancies involving pipeline services
  • Coordinate activities with Gas Control/Commercial/Business Development/Engineering/Scheduling with respect to customer contract usage, operational issues, outages and maintenance to communicate related information to customers
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships and awareness of customers’ business and contributes ideas for commercial opportunities
  • Prepares ad-hoc queries and reports and analyzes associated information with respect to gas volume and imbalance in support of requests from groups such as Commercial/Business Development/Accounting/Regulatory
  • Perform competitive analysis of Westcoast markets and existing customer utilization to develop strategies for purposes of improving revenue and customer utilization of assets, and to retain and increase market share.
  • Provide commercial input for outage planning process. Strategizes, prioritizes, and optimizes system outages to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently and to minimize overall impact to system customers.
  • Negotiate with shippers regarding the management of their daily account management and inventory imbalance corrections, drawing on knowledge of shipper business, pipeline operations, policies and procedures
  • Resolve issues through application of standard procedures, recommended modifications, and innovative ways developed from experience with previous assignments and advocate for solutions and influence internal and external stakeholders in situations in which they may not be predisposed to agree
  • Responsible for the daily commercial capacity of the pipeline working with internal stakesholders to optimize the pipeline capacity, and creates, sets and monitors capacity constraints. Manage system gas accounts, including fuel gas, swing gas, and pipeline operational accounts; provide analysis of gas usage, and propose adjustments to maintain pipeline system balance
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for evolving business processes, drawing on individual experience and inputs from team members and leaders, internal and external stakeholders Other Responsibilities

Who You Are:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Knowledge of the Westcoast pipeline system
  • 4+ years’ experience in a related field with broad business knowledge within the oil & gas industry
  • Ability to work On call 24/7 rotation
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to issues
  • Excellent customer service orientation and relationship management competency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, together with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and actively build knowledge
