We are looking for a Supervisor Reporting & Research (Accounting) to join our team in North York Ontario.

Working in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will lead a department of accounting professionals and provide technical guidance and assessment of accounting treatment for those complex transactions.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead a department of accounting professionals responsible for completion of the month end close processes, general accounting transactions, as well as assisting with the external (public) reporting of the consolidated results of Enbridge Gas Inc. This involves detailed planning and coordination with various departments within Corporate.
  • Assist Corporate Financial Reporting in coordinating, preparing, analysis and reporting of the annual and interim external management’s discussion and analysis, financial statements for Enbridge Gas Inc. provided to senior management, Enbridge Inc., the Board of Directors, securities regulators, securities analysts and investors. These are key documents available to the public which describe the business and financial results of
  • Enbridge Gas Inc., the largest natural gas utility in North America in terms of send-out volumes and the third largest in terms of number of customers.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Consolidations group to ensure that accounting and consolidation issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support the Gas Distribution segment reporting for Enbridge Inc.’s external financial documents.
  • Maintain strong and constructive relationships with accounting staff at Enbridge Inc. and with senior external audit staff.
  • Oversee relationship with audit field staff to ensure the year-end audit; quarterly reviews and ad hoc non-audit work are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with the Enterprise Accounting Research team on the accounting approach and support for major transactions, such as acquisitions and disposals, and manage the disclosure.
  • Provide training, leadership, mentorship and coaching for staff in the group with a focus on developing staff to meet their potential and reach their goals.

Who You Are:

  • University degree in a business or commerce/accounting program
  • A recognized accounting designation (CPA) with 7 or more years accounting experience
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP and working knowledge of Canadian GAAP and IFRS
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian securities law and U.S. securities law regarding Foreign Private Issuers
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills including the ability to manage a diverse group of professionals
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented and able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex transactions
  • Proven team player, with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, while demonstrating a high level of cooperation and mutual respect
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple project deadlines concurrently
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
