Join Enbridge as a Senior Electrical Controls Technician

As a Senior Electrical Controls Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our stations electrical control systems. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting unity and auxiliary equipment controls- from switchgear and generators to PLCs, HMIs and safety systems.

In this position, you’ll use your technical expertise to plan, perform, and lead electrical controls related work while guiding others in safe, efficient maintenance practices. You’ll weigh in on planning and budgeting efforts, ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards, and help keep our operations running safely and efficiently every day.

What you will do:

  • Maintains electrical systems and equipment (such as switchgear, motors, generators, pumps and fans). 
  • Maintains DC electrical systems and equipment (such as batteries, chargers, rectifiers and inverters). 
  • Maintains station and unit level electrical control systems and their components (such as PLCs, HMIs and control networks). 
  • Maintains station and unit level electrical control system end devices (such as motor controls, pressure transmitters, pressure switches, temperature sensors, limit switches, solenoids and actuators). 
  • Maintains safety systems and their components (such as ESD panels, gas detectors, flame detectors and manual activation switches). 
  • Direct other qualified employees in the performance of routine electrical controls-related activities.  
  • Assists in planning work and giving budget related information as required, consistent with the annual budgeting process.  
  • Performs work in compliance with Company policies/procedures as well as external regulatory bodies, such as the Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through adherence to NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals. 

Who you are:

You have:

  • 5+ years of directly related experience or relevant training along with a High School Diploma

You can:

  • Show a valid CDL driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that will be verified upon hire

You are:

  • Dedicated to learning and advancing as an Electrical Controls Technician

The following are considered assets:

  • Solid understanding of operations used in the maintenance of these facilities

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 25 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
