Position (details)

We are seeking a Director, Indirect Tax to join our Corporate Tax Team. This role develops and implements indirect tax policies and strategies to support IGM Financial Inc.’s profitability. Strong tax and accounting expertise, business insight, and problem-solving skills are required to align tax requirements with company systems and processes.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine and assess indirect tax implications of corporate activities, plans, and strategies, and identify possible indirect tax options.
  • Review and manage Indirect Tax return processes for the corporate group and for IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments.
  • Inform executive management and business lines about indirect tax developments that affect operations and profitability.
  • Manage indirect tax audits.
  • Maintain current knowledge of indirect tax legislation. 
  • Mentor colleagues by offering guidance, sharing relevant experience, and supporting their professional development.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 10 + years of accounting and tax experience. Strong knowledge of Indirect Tax including GST/HST/QST for Financial Institutions.
  • University degree in a business discipline and completion of a Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA).
  • Completion of the CPA In-Depth GST/HST Course and Specialized GST/HST Financial Services Course.
  • Proficiency with Windows environment, MS Office 365 suite.
  • Experience working within a complex G/L environment an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • High levels of initiative and accountability.
  • Strong commitment to client service.

The expected annual base salary range for this role is ($135,500 – $164,000), which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
