Be a team; we are united to drive collective impact to achieve our goals. The Mackenzie Fixed Income Team is accepting applications for the position of Investment Analyst, based in Toronto, Ontario. The position reports directly to the Head of Credit Research. The role focuses on credit analysis across global investment-grade bonds, high yield bonds, and leveraged loan markets. It requires a strong interest in global credit markets and the ability to develop and communicate investment recommendations to Portfolio Managers. The role contributes to the success of our fixed income mandates through idea generation, position monitoring, and special projects that support the portfolio management process. Success in the role requires clear, receiver-centric communication and the ability to operate within a structured investment process, with strong documentation and follow-through from idea generation through monitoring and post-mortem learning. The successful candidate should also be open to using technology, including AI tools, thoughtfully and responsibly to improve efficiency, deepen research, and support better investment outcomes. Key responsibilities:Develop deep expertise in an assigned group of sectors and proactively identify key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks across sectors and issuers.Conduct fundamental bottom-up research of assigned sectors across investment-grade bonds, high yield bonds, and leveraged loans to assess industry trends and market dynamics with a view to generating investment ideas and monitoring existing positions Perform comprehensive bottom-up due diligence on issuers including developing detailed financial models to assess creditworthiness, conducting meetings with management teams, and analyzing relative value Analyze capital structures and covenants to identify the most attractive place to invest in the capital structure and maximize risk-adjusted return Make buy / hold / sell recommendations on individual securities and collaborate with the broader team to implement those views in the portfolios Communicate timely investment updates and views with clear, well-documented recommendations and rationale so they can be translated effectively into portfolio decisions, execution, monitoring, and ongoing reviewTake ownership of ideas through their lifecycle by helping monitor positions, updating views as facts change, and contributing to post-mortem reviews that strengthen team learning and process disciplineEngage with companies on material ESG issues in a way that is consistent with team and company engagement strategies to determine suitability for our various mandatesEstablish and build relationships with sell-side contacts and other market participants such as rating agency analysts to generate market insightsParticipate in regular team meetings related to individual credits, sector views, relative value and portfolio managementContribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, consistency, and best practices across the team in support of alpha generation.Use AI tools, where appropriate, to improve workflow efficiency, research synthesis, information organization, and productivity, while exercising strong judgment, maintaining data confidentiality, and applying appropriate human oversightWork closely with portfolio managers and benefit from ongoing mentoring and career development with opportunities to take on increasing responsibilities over timeThe successful candidate should have the following qualifications:Have 2-5 years of experience in financial services industry with a focus on credit analysisSolid knowledge of and demonstrated experience with fundamental credit analysis as it relates to fixed income securities within the context of the global fixed income marketsA high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize workflow are essential.Demonstrated openness to feedback, continuous improvement, and ongoing skill development within a collaborative team environmentCompletion of, or progress toward the CFA program or another advanced degree is preferredExperience with using AI tools productively and appropriately including large language models (LLMs), to support research, workflow efficiency, and information synthesis The expected annual base salary range for this role is (90,000 – 140,000), which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
