The Electrical Technician performs preventative maintenance and repairs in a timely fashion with little or no interruption to service. What you will do:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various electric, electronic, and Programmable Logic (PLC) control systems.

  • Inspect, test, maintain, repair/replace, calibrate various instrumentation devices including but not limited to Pressure Transmitters, Temperature Transmitters, Pressure Switches, Level Switches, Level Transmitters, Hazardous Atmosphere Detectors, Densitometers, Flow Switches, etc.

  • Perform inspection and maintenance checks on control systems.

  • Maintain electrical switchgear and power distribution.

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, motors, and auxillary equipment.

  • Perform/assist in mechanical repairs of valves, valve actuators, pump seals, measurement equipment, etc.

  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.

  • Individual skills must meet DOT-mandated Operator Qualification standards which must be verified through performance testing.

  • Complete and maintain appropriate documentation and paperwork for compliance.

  • Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime when necessary.  Will be placed in an on-call rotation to respond to operational upsets after hours.

  • Will need to acquire emergency response skills and certifications – HAZWOPER 40 hour training, participate in tabletop drills, participate in emergency response equipment deployment exercises, ICS training, etc.

  • Intermediate computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, operating systems, and company software)

  • Math and Algebra knowledge.

  • Be able to maintain, adjust, make minor repairs, and operate equipment (e.g. tractor, skid steer, forklift, UTV, ATV, water pumps, air compressors, test equipment, vehicles, etc.)

  • Must be able and willing to travel.  Travel to attend training or to assis other operating areas will be required at times.

  • Implement other duties as assigned.

  • Must reside within 30-minute travel radius of assigned reporting location.

Who You Are:

You have the following education and experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 4 years of direct relevant industry training and experience.

  • Valid driver’s license & excellent driving record

Preferred that you:

  • Are an Electrical Journeyman or have participated in an accredited Apprenticeship Program.

  • Industrial experience with HVAC/R

  • Knowledge/Experience with pump station, terminal, and pipeline facilities.

  • Familiarity with pertinent equipment (pumps, motors, valves, switchgear, flow meters, programmable logic controls, motor control centers, uninterruptible power supplies and instrumentation).

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily field oriented (outdoor) with specific office (indoor) functions for training, meetings and documentation of required tasks, dictated by Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies for which Enbridge must comply.

  • Available for emergency call 24 hours a day as needed.

  • Work often required in high noise level areas and areas where vapors from crude oil and solvents may be present.

Physical Requirements:  

Include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying ( up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 100 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
