As a Senior Engineer you would be tasked with Performing, reporting and presenting on risk assessments of pipelines, facilities and storage assets using standard and non-standard tools and techniques to support department objectives and stakeholder’s requests. Perform continuous improvement activities and develop tools, processes, and methodologies to enhance the capabilities of integrity risk assessment. Develops recommendations that provide the basis for making critical safety and business decisions, with guidance from leadership. Responsible for assigned tasks in the development and/or implementation of technical solutions for specific areas ensuring efficient coordination of technical and administrative resources and ensuring coordination with other internal and /or external partners.

What You Will Do:

Perform quantitative assessment of risks associated with gas transmission, gas processing, and gas storage assets following standard and non-standard processes.

Support the management of partners’ requests including problem definition, data collection, application of standard and non-standard assessment techniques, and communication of results.

Collaborate with senior team members on continuous improvements of assessment tools and develop new techniques through:
-
Researching relevant literature
-
Performing feasibility studies and system-wide analysis
-
Building cases for improvement ideas
-
Performing automation and improvement of existing models
-
-
Communicate effectively highly technical results and analysis methodologies used in standard and non-standard assessments, results, limitations, etc. to internal and external partners through presentations and written communications.

Drive PI-Core Process implementation and other critical risk decisions.

Develop and maintain processes, procedures, and work instructions under supervision of Specialists.

Support consequence and risk assessment models (or other complex tasks) through providing technical judgement, reliability knowledge, and other areas of technical expertise.

Generate industry publications and technical reports to support industry advancement.

This position’s responsibilities include:
-
Safety: identify potential safety issues and accurately assess the risk of Enbridge assets. Results of this analysis will be used to identify areas of potential concern and to support safety decisions, which require highly accurate assessment and attention to detail.

Stakeholders: interact with internal and external partners. This requires frequent professional communication and relationship building.
-
Financial: provide inputs to support Pipeline Integrity decision making.
-
People: provide guidance to members of the Risk team and external partners through leading technical projects.

The position’s decision-making authority is limited to project-level decisions. Larger decisions which will have a significant impact on the company will likely be recommended by this position but approved by higher levels of management.

This position will require independent judgement/discretion regarding technical work within their assigned projects and partner requests.
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
-
A minimum of 6 years of technical experience in two or more of the following areas:
-
Risk Management related to Oil & Gas assets
-
Pipeline integrity related projects and programs
-
Research-related projects requiring review of industry literature, interpretation of a variety data types, and generation of conclusions and recommendations based on findings.
-

Knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 192, ASME B31.8S, CSA Z662, OSHA 1910.119, Z767, API 1173, ISO 3100 and other industry regulations and standards.
-
Knowledge and experience applying reliability and risk assessment methodologies: quantitative/probabilistic risk assessments, structured reliability models, Monte Carlos simulations, fault tree models, Bayesian networks.

Proficiency in managing data through Excel, Pivot Tables and Power Bi
-
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, statistical tools (such as @RISK and MATLAB), and large databases (using tools such as PowerPivot or PowerQuery)
-
Experience with programming languages like VBA in Excel, Octave/Matlab coding, Python or R
-
Strong organizational, time management and planning skills.
-
Strong critical thinking skills related both to technical problems and project management.
-
Ability to communicate effectively with partners. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, and external partners in both formal and informal settings.

Strong technical writing skills.
-
Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver projects and stakeholder requests.
-
Ability to prioritize tasks for a dedicated project team and oversee their work.
-
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver thorough technical analysis and recommendations.
Preferred:

Professional Engineering designation
-
Experience with pipeline integrity reliability and risk software
-
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Engineering
Working Conditions:

Office location: Desk work using Computers and Software.

Required to manage tight timelines with limited information in some instances.

Company paid international relocation is not offered for this role.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
