Credit Analyst (casual)
Contributes to the overall success of the Lending Services department of Scotia Dealer Advantage in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Contributes to loan growth and profitability by:
- Analyzing customer loan applications from Dealers and determining customer affordability by reviewing customer credit history, employment and income according to established guidelines;
- Performing structured and analytic functions on loan applications through the Business Line’s credit decisioning system;
- Completing risk assessments and developing recommendations as to the appropriate course of action for customer loan applications;
- Conducting analysis to support pricing and/or fee recommendations for loan applications and analyzing, processing and recommending loan amendments or pricing concessions requests from dealers.
- Ensures sound and timely due diligence in loan underwriting by:
- Ensuring customer loan applications from Dealers are properly and accurately investigated, evaluated and documented;
- Following up on outstanding loan related information and managing the credit review process for assigned loan applications;
- Referring exception credit situations to the Manager, Credit as required for speedy escalation and equitable resolution through Global Risk Management/ACE (Adjudication Centre of Expertise).
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Direct experience in prime or non-prime financing adjudication preferred.
- Strong attention to detail
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in credit analysis.
- Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, credit decisioning and loan application software.
Working conditions
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are not a common occurrence.
- Training is full-time for up to the first 12-weeks.
- Operating hours (you will be scheduled within these times):

- Monday – Thursday 7:30am to 11:00pm EST
- Friday 7:30am – 9:00pm EST
- Saturday 9:00am – 8:00pm EST
- Sunday 10:00am – 7:00pm EST
- At this time, we are seeking candidates who have availability Monday and Friday’s between 5-9pm, and Saturdays between 9am – 8pm.
