Enbridge has an exciting opportunity for you! A Safety Advisor provides direct support to projects safety programs. This position will support stakeholders with both in-field support as well as systems/programs support.  You will advise in the full and systemic application of the Safety program and Safety Culture Program, utilization of the Enbridge leading indicator programs, event management, safety  communications, and contractor/subcontractor engagement and oversight. SA’s use their strong relationship and analytical, and report writing skills to review leading and lagging indicator trends to identify and develop safety management system improvements. What You Will Do:

  • Role will include both on the ground field support and office-based ‘Systems & Programs’ support.

  • Champion the Enbridge Safety Management Framework, Vision, and Values, with internal stakeholders and external contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.

  • Operationalize Safety Culture Framework by promoting and seeking out opportunities to strengthen safety culture traits, attributes and characteristics.

  • Support area/regional line management and safety representatives in execution of their roles.

  • A contributor in the development, implementation, and sustainment of occupational health and safety programs, standards, safety cultural assessments and safety training programs.

  • Provide support to operational leadership for reaffirming safety standards and work execution management through systematic assurance of work activities and participation in corrective action plans.

  • Assist with health and safety matters to enable Enbridge to be compliant with all, state and federal (OSHA) health and safety legislation, including third party audits, inspections and investigations.

  • Act as a conduit for communications on H&S matters between projects and H&S support teams e.g., shared services and occupational hygiene.

  • Support implementation of Occupational Health plans initiatives and monitoring.  Conduct and/or participate in area safety assessments, inspections, and observations; quality reviews, trend and analyze data, and assist in the completion of corrective actions as required.

  • Support area in the event management function inclusive of the processes for event reporting, analysis, management committee reviews, corrective action monitoring and lessons learned bulletin communications.

  • Provide input into safety training courses and development as required. Manage safety metrics compiled for the Project Safety Power Bi Reporting Tool.

Who You Are:

  • Degree/Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.

  • Minimum 4+ years of progressively responsible health & safety experience within the energy industry is preferred.  Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Ability to be innovative, tactical, initiate and manage change, work collaboratively, negotiate, influence without authority, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, prioritize, and deliver results.

  • Interpersonal, communication, writing,  computer, as well as data/analytical skills.

  • Experienced in developing and maintain positive relationships with front line operations personnel

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Passport and minimum requirements for travel outside of country.

Preferred:

  • Professional Board Certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional field work and travel expectations for audits, reviews, inspections, assessments, meetings, training, and field safety support.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours when required to manage work priorities, accommodate field schedules, and address stakeholder needs.

  • Office environment requiring extensive work on computer, use of online safety data platforms, networking with stakeholders via MS Teams, research of technical issues and development of plans and reports.

Physical Requirements:

Include but are not limited to: Physical fitness and able to work at heights (climbing wind turbine) and ability to successfully pass working at heights training and certification and wear full fall arrest harness and related equipment Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, reads fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
