Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Learning & Development will lead the design, development and implementation of learning strategies on behalf of Client Services and Operations divisions at IGM Financial through innovative learning experiences. With demonstrated thought leadership and experience in instructional design and adult learning models, the Senior Manager will lead the skills development programs to support a rapidly changing workplace. The Senior Manager will play a lead consulting role and will collaborate with business partners to deliver an engaging and enhanced employee learning experience. This role plays a critical function in designing and establishing the onboarding programs within the division, upskilling to support career progression and training for various changes driven by industry, transformation to ultimately deliver a strong client experience. The Senior Manager will ensure that there is consistency in the quality of training programs, initiatives, and materials launched by the division by establishing evaluation methods to demonstrate the effective transfer of skills and knowledge and ensure that learning solutions drive performance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership and decision-making capabilities – Oversees the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of the Learning & Development team to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of duties. Provides coaching and guidance to team members to contribute to their growth and professional development.

  • Adult learning theories and models – Researches industry and regulatory tends in programming and maintains a solid understanding of the adult learning principles, motivation theories and models that inform and shape the design of learning experiences. Be able to apply these theories by consulting with business partners to assess the learning needs/requirements, recommend and develop solutions and evaluate the effectiveness.

  • Instructional design methodologyCreates vision and strategy to articulate and guide CSO’s learning and development programs. Establishes and manages program curriculums to support internal, external and upskilling requirements within CSO. Responsible for the implementation of instructional strategies and methods that align with the learning objectives by choosing the appropriate delivery method and incorporates problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, collaborative learning, gamification, and personalization.

  • Visual design principles – Oversees the curation of professional content that leverages strong visual design principles to simplify complex topics and information.  Responsible for ensuring learners can quickly absorb and retain the information by capturing their attention.

  • Technology Integration and innovationDrives innovative training program development through the facilitation of online resources, training toolkits, as well as reinforcement and sustainability programs. Familiar with the latest technologies and trends to ensure that delivery of an enhanced and innovative learning experience. Explores emerging technologies and provides recommendations to integrate learning objectives with technology based solutions.

  • Project Management & Communication – Manages and communicates effectively with key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects, programs, tools and resources. Strong communication skills will help you effectively liaise with business partners to ensure specific goals and business outcomes are achieved.

  • Critical Thinking and continuous improvement – Use data driven insights to identify trends, patterns to evaluate the effectiveness of learning outcomes to better inform the learning strategy. Establishes a discipline around continuous improvement to evolve the learning experience. Determines and leads the reskilling and talent retention effort required so high potential employees acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the constantly evolving workplace of the future.

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with communications,  learning delivery, program implementation, change management principles, preferably in the Financial Services Industry

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Adult Education; Business Administration; or related field

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and SMEs;

  • Ability to conduct training needs analysis, interpret and communicate the data and deliver solutions to address the gaps

  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; juggle and manage competing tasks and demands; and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

  • Presentation experience

  • Knowledge of instructional design methodology

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of a Learning Management System

  • Bilingual (French-English) is an asset

  • As this position is posted in Montréal, Toronto and Winnipeg, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English.
