The Gas Control Coordinator will maintain responsibility for day-to-day oversight of Gas Control Operations (pipeline and storage systems) by providing daily support, planning and direction of the Gas Controllers to provide system stability, reliability, safe operation, and execution of short-term plans. The Coordinator will ascertain problems involved in gas operations, contact personnel who can supply information and assistance, analyze and evaluate data, determine solutions, initiate change within jurisdiction, and recommend changes in operations or strategy. The Coordinator will also be responsible for directing the management of the system recovery from emergencies, such as pipeline ruptures, and unplanned events, such as supply disruptions.
Position is located out of Cleveland, OH.
What you will do:
- Manage pipeline activities with daily operations to maintain a safe and balanced pipeline system.
- Direct, assist and guide Gas Controllers on complex, non-routine system operations due to scheduled or unplanned outages, significant changes to gas volumes received or delivered and changes to storage pool deliverability.
- Schedule and coordinate engineering, field, and pipeline projects.
- Plan and lead annual and detailed job specific outage schedules to minimize facility downtime and gas loss, maintain pipeline flexibility to fill storage while ensuring customer requirements are met.
- Approve, schedule, and coordinate all planned outages in the transmission and gathering pipeline system.
- Assist field personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
- Anticipate and notify appropriate business units of impending system restrictions. Guides gas controllers on uses of storage.
- Analyze existing facilities and reviews new construction plans and recommends modifications to enhance performance and flexibility.
- Analyze SCADA data to ensure correctness.
- Review and change SCADA alarm levels.
- Help to design automated station operation for use by Gas Controllers.
- Develop SCADA screen layouts for new facilities.
- Design and implement all pipeline out of service and in service procedures.
- Schedule all internal line inspections and cleaning operations for Pipeline Integrity compliance, creates launching and receiving procedures and guides Gas Controllers on optimizing flow and pressure requirements.
- Coordinate, plan, and implement strategies with other operating departments.
- Adhere to Pipeline Safety Regulations pertaining to Control Room Management and other applicable sections.
- Monitor all available pipeline flow and market requirement data as needed.
- Confer with gas control personnel of other companies.
- Assume Manager Gas Control system responsibilities as needed.
Who you are:
- An Associates degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 or more years of Gas Control experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 9 or more years of Gas Control experience.
- Preferred degrees include Engineering Technology and Business Administration.
- Extensive knowledge of operation of gas storage systems.
- Detailed knowledge of operation of gas control SCADA system.
- Expert knowledge of the operations of pipeline and storage systems required.
- Expert knowledge and application of pipeline construction operating procedures.
- Knowledge and experience making operating changes in response to abnormal or emergency conditions within system.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organization, proficient in research and analysis, technical problem solving.
- Possess proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Products.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of CRM (Control Room Management) procedures required.
- Able to work independently and direct the work of others.
- Able to process information and effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritization.
- Respond competently under pressure.
- Remain calm during emergencies and work effectively under stress.
Working Conditions:
- Office Work Environment 76 -100%.
- Travel Up to 25% (travel to North Carolina approximately four times a year).
Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
