The Advisor Finance Power Accounting is responsible for the preparation and timely completion of monthly/quarterly/annual general ledger close, review of analysis of power information received by third parties, and accurate and timely reporting of Power entities.
You will independently take ownership for multifaceted assignments requiring a broad understanding of accounting principles and/or may also have specialized knowledge of the renewable power industry, as well as knowledge of interrelated effects of the work upon other areas of the business.

What You Will Do:

Responsible for preparing all monthly GL activity and journal entries, including intercompany, for North American Power entities.

Financial statement review and analysis for North American JV entities including investigation, documentation and analysis of sophisticated issues.

Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations for all Enbridge bank accounts; account reconciliations for other GL accounts for North American entities.

Responsible for preparation of quarterly financial reporting and treasury deliverables for Enbridge Power entities.

Identify material differences in JV accounting standards (IFRS) and US GAAP; provide a recommendation to Supervisor for documentation and/or resolution, as needed.

Assist with Financial Reporting, Accounting Research, Consolidations, Tax and Treasury requests to ensure compliance in reporting and disclosure for power entities in accordance with US GAAP and Enbridge’s consolidated accounting policies and procedures.

Assist Supervisor and Manager with resolution of questions from senior leaders, which requires knowledge of US GAAP and non-GAAP requirements.

Perform research or analysis to support ad hoc questions or requests from various stakeholders; provide recommendation to Supervisor or Manager for documentation and/or resolution, as needed.

Interact with and assist external auditors on quarterly and year-end audits.

Ensure compliance with SOX controls and related reporting requirements.

Identify and provide recommendations to Supervisor and Manager for operational improvements through a review of accounts and associated processes.

Opportunity to train, develop, and review the work of junior staff on the team.

Back up other Power Financial Advisor/Senior Financial Analyst as needed.

Special projects as required.
Who You Are:
-
University Degree in a financial subject area and 4 or more years of relevant work experience.

CPA or other professional accounting designation with 2+ years post qualification

Strong communication skills (written and oral); able to work well virtually with team and other partners in other locations

Proven organization, planning, and analytical skills

Ability to work on tasks/assignments to meet tight deadlines

Positive demeanor and proven teammate, demonstrating a high level of collaboration and respect

Knowledge of accounting within the renewable power sector
-
Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
-
Experience working in Oracle Cloud, HFM, ARCs, Essbase and EPBCS is an asset

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
