As a member of the TIS Network Services team, the Advisor TIS Network Planning is accountable for the delivery, optimization, and ongoing support of business critical, enterprise-wide network and telecommunications infrastructure. This role is central to enabling the organizations’ technology strategy leading complex initiatives, shaping network standards and roadmaps, and ensuring reliable, high performing connectivity across the enterprise!

You will provide deep technical leadership across projects and operations, parting with business leaders, IT teams, and vendors to design scalable solutions, resolve complex network challenges, and continuously improve how services are delivered. With a solid focus on innovation, collaboration, and strategic planning, this role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise direction while remaining closely connected to hands on technical outcomes.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide technical expertise to complex telecom and network-based technical projects initiated from the business or internally to TIS.
  • Manage technical aspects of assigned projects, including project charters, collaborator engagement, design, resource and cost allocation, implementation and delivery, sustainment and project closure
  • Implement enterprise IT strategies and strategic direction to provide business support to business groups.
  • Drive strategic planning initiatives related to the TIS department.
  • Responsible for Technology Design, Standards and Roadmaps.
  • Provide technical enterprise on technology specific councils.
  • Lead the resolution of escalated incidents from operations teams or TIS support groups in a timely manner.
  • Understand and align with client customers’ needs through timely and efficient completion of work.
  • Build a knowledge base of each customer’s business, systems and objectives.
  • Provide input and proactive support regarding the development and/or selection of third-party computer-based applications.
  • Document system deficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Complete software installations, conversions and/or upgrades within specified budgets and schedules.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement to internal processes by providing possible solutions.
  • Review, align with and help enforce standard policies and procedures.
  • Use internal IT project management, service management, quality assurance methodologies, tools and technologies.
  • Participate in making innovative contributions and embracing new insights.
  • Proactively initiate, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with peers and peer groups.
  • Monitor service and control the performance and status of the enterprise network.
  • Interact with vendors in planning, problem resolution and acquisition of repair services and materials.
  • Research current procedures and emerging technology advances in Networking.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies.
  • Share acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels. 
  • Assist with the orientation and training of newly hired employees.

Who You Are:

You have:

  • 4+ years of enterprise network experience along with a 2-yr technical diploma OR a related university degree
  • A solid understanding and experience with cmapus LAN wired/wireless, SD-WAN, MPLS, Load Balancers, Firewalls and Cloud networking technologies

You can:

  • Show strong knowledge of multicast and unicast routing and switching protocols as well as having a solid understanding of networked applications and being able to analyze application flow for a variety of common enterprise applications
  • Offer good experience with various telemetry transport technologies, including Internet, MPLS, VPN Cellular, Satellite, Microwave and Radio

You are:

  • An excellent written/verbal communicator with good interpersonal skills who has the ability to achieve results through working with a large group of peers in related functions
  • A passport holder who can travel occasionally between the US and Canada

The following are considered assets:

  • Prior experience in Project Management, Change Management and Operations Management

Salary: $80,500-$110,000 USD. Salary will be based on candidate experience, skills, and internal equity

Physical Requirements:
