Division, Team and Department summary:

We are part of Client Services Operations under the Strategic Solutions and Operational Oversight team. The Strategic Solutions and Operational Oversight teams directly support clients and advisors or support the client and advisor facing teams including the Managed portfolio solution, continuous improvement and Estates settlement team, HNW & experience enhancement team and the Business operations support and controls team.

The Operational Controls and Oversight team is part of the Business Operations Support & Controls team that supports IGM Operations serving as a liaison between technology and business, to ensure availability of back-office applications, service delivery for IG, coordinates client reporting, supports product launches, projects, controls oversight, dealer tax, statements, settlements and client banking.  

The Operational Controls and Oversight (OC&O) team ensures compliance with IG Dealer and Fund manufacturer regulatory requirements through a framework of controls within the business teams and within the OC&O team. The focus of the team is to identify any gaps, improve controls and mitigate risk by monitoring, oversight and reporting.
 

Position summary:

The Analyst is responsible for independently completing control activities, creating and maintaining policy and procedures, identifying gaps, conducting reviews, data analysis and providing recommendations to mitigate risk. The Analyst will review filed controls by business teams and control documentation, complete assessments and record the data for reporting. This role works closely with all teams within Client Service Operations and internal and external business partners, providing guidance and direction on regulatory operational services and processes as a subject matter expert on dealer and fund manufacturer requirements
 

Duties include:

  • Monitoring and analyzing processes and reports to keep an eye on operational and financial processes to ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently.

  • Supporting the identification and analysis of areas of risk within operations and developing plans to mitigate these risks.

  • Preparing/updating centralized reports on operational performance and areas for improvement.

  • Supporting initiatives pertaining to technology and automation initiatives for CSO through communication and education of business partners across CSO.

  • Developing, implementing and completing control activities.

  • Working with internal partners on a regular basis to ensure policy/procedures and training documentation are up to date and reflect any necessary adjustments discovered through the controls framework.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience within an IGFS and IGSI (or other relevant) dealer environment.

  • In-depth understanding of IG Wealth products and administrative procedures.

  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and demonstrate solid decision-making skills in a multi-task, deadline oriented environment.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Advanced problem solving, analytical and organization skills. Attention to detail is critical.

  • Strong initiative and ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.

  • Proficient PC skills including spreadsheet abilities (MS Excel), Word, and Powerpoint.

  • Knowledge of SQL or VBA scripts is an asset.

  • Successful completion of the Canadian Investment Funds course/Operations Course or the Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
