The Marketing Department at IGM Financial (including IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments) is currently accepting applications for the position of Communications Specialist, reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications. As part of a national Corporate Communications team, the Communications Specialist will help implement communications for IGM Financial, with a focus on communicating to IG Wealth Management’s network of 3,000+ financial advisors and their teams.

This position is an ideal fit for someone looking for the next step in their career. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with business leads to develop effective communication strategies, ensuring consistent use of key messages across a range of activities and tailoring these messages toward specific audiences. The successful candidate will also use his/her outstanding writing skills to draft and edit content for a range of internal and external audiences.

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Communication strategy development and planning

    • Support business team members to develop targeted, coordinated, creative communications plans that actively engage audiences and are aligned with industry best practices.

    • Work with their manager and other team members to ensure campaigns/plans are moving forward in a timely manner and are addressing the needs of internal team members.

  • Consultation with business leads

    • Provide communications advice and recommendations to business counterparts.

    • Serve as communications representative on various working committees.

    • Work collaboratively and creatively with marketing counterparts to develop and recommend coordinated engagement strategies.

  • Writing and editing

    • Create content and manage approvals for a variety of internal communications materials for our IG Advisor audience, including articles and emails, intranet content materials, web conferences, designed collateral, and web pages.

    • Manage content delivery, including translation, design, digital and multimedia requirements as needed.

  • Project management

    • Assist with the layout and review process for daily communications cycle.

    • Monitor and collect communications analytics, and create analytics reports for management, as required.

    • Work with business team members to ensure campaigns/plans are moving forward in a timely manner and are addressing the needs of stakeholders. 
       

The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate in carrying out these responsibilities:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a corporate communications or agency environment. Direct experience within the financial services industry considered an asset.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications or Public Relations.

  • Strong and versatile writer who can balance corporate tone with attention-grabbing storytelling, strong editing skills and an eye for detail and accuracy.

  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies for internal and external audiences.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.

  • Ability to engage with business leaders authoritatively.

  • Demonstrated interest in communications industry best practices.

  • Strong technical skills and interest in content management and layout programs. Basic HTML knowledge an asset.

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign) and Adobe Analytics considered an asset.

  • Previous experience in media relations, social media, and integrated PR campaigns considered an asset.

  • Bilingual in English and French considered an asset.
