Position:

The Director of Accounting Research will play a critical role in supporting the company’s financial reporting and accounting functions. This position will be responsible for conducting research and analysis on complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, providing technical accounting guidance to various teams within the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis on complex accounting issues, including emerging trends and regulatory changes

  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to various teams, including Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, and Investment Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and implement process improvements

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices, including IFRS, and Canadian securities regulations

  • Develop and maintain technical accounting memoranda and research papers

  • Manage the annual audit process including coordination with external auditors and internal stakeholders

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and other disclosures

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA designation required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting research or technical accounting role

  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Canadian regulations (CSA, OSC)

  • Excellent research and analytical skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
