The Advanced Financial Planning department is made up of a growing team that includes 35 accountants, lawyers and financial planners and provides financial planning support, training and resource material to IG Wealth Management Consultants. The financial planning support provided includes taxation, estate planning and insurance support on complex cases and non-technical support for the financial planning software. The department also represents Investors Group and its financial planning expertise to the media, the public and professional organizations through interviews and presentations.
We are currently looking for a Director to join our Advanced Financial Planning team.
The Director is responsible for providing advanced taxation and estate planning advice, client meeting support, training and resource materials to IG Wealth Management Consultants. The position also provides advice to other head office departments and represents IG Wealth Management’s financial planning approach to the media, clients, the public and professional associations.
Responsibilities include:
• Support IG Wealth Management Consultants by responding by telephone (Teams) and by email to their questions related to taxation, estate planning, and other aspects of financial planning.
• Participate in meetings and conference calls with clients and/or their professional advisors to address matters related to tax and estate planning.
• Prepare written reports based on an in‑depth analysis of complex client situations, identifying opportunities, strategies, and other issues related to tax planning, estate planning, and other aspects of financial planning.
• Create and analyze financial plans for complex situations, including cases where the client owns a business or a private corporation.
• Develop advanced training programs on taxation, estate planning, and other aspects of financial planning, and deliver them to IG Wealth Management Consultants.
• Develop and update financial planning tools intended for IG Wealth Management Consultants.
• Provide advice and training to other IG Wealth Management departments on complex matters involving taxation, estate planning, and other financial planning issues (for example, by reviewing corporate documents, advertisements, and client‑facing marketing materials; participating on editorial committees for client publications; and providing guidance on new product design and the suitability of various financial planning solutions).
• Obtain the Financial Planner designation with the IPF, if not already held.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in advanced tax and estate planning, including experience providing advice to business owners. Candidates who have completed the CICA in-depth tax course or who have a degree in a recognized university program in taxation will be preferred.
- Attainment of a university degree and CPA licensed.
- A continuous learner who stays on top of business trends and tax technical changes.
- Flexible, able to work with light supervision and adapt to change.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in French and in English.
- Strong public speaking and training skills.
- Bilingualism (French and English).
- Proficiency with Windows environment PC based tools.
Knowledge of French and English is required to support clients and Team members within and/ or outside the province of Quebec.

The expected annual base salary range for this role is ($107, 500 – $130, 000), which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
