Responsibilities:

Oversee day to day operations of the accounts payable team

  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedure, and internal controls, safeguarding Company assets and reducing the risk of financial loss

  • Ensure accurate vendor records and approval lists for authorizing payment invoices, employee reimbursements and other disbursements.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure their business requirements are incorporated into accounts payable process e.g. tax processing.

  • Foster a customer service approach within the team.

  • Manage workflow to meet established service levels.

  • Act as the escalation point for issues raised to the team

  • Identify, develop and implement innovative process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the accounts payable function.

  • Manage staff administrative including hiring, training and performance management.

Lead projects related to accounts payable automation and process optimization to improve accuracy and efficiency

  • Monitor and assess internal and external changes impacting accounts payable, recommend and implement applicable changes to systems, processes and controls

  • Lead accounts payable driven system or process implementations

  • Act as the key resource and accounts payable lead on corporate initiatives impacting accounts payable

Reporting

  • Metrics and KPI’s for accounts payable

  • Employee Spend reporting and analysis

  • Internal and External Audit and compliance reporting

  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis

Requirements:

  • Post secondary degree or equivalentBusiness/Accounting related

  • Seven plus years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.

  • Accounts payable experience.

  • Proficiency in SAP Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and Concur would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of AI technologies would be an asset. 

  • CPA or enrolled in CPA program
