About the Division:

The Mortgage, Insurance & Banking business leads the strategic direction of innovative product and service development to provide superior wealth planning, advice, and well-being for affluent Canadians. The team seeks to optimize solutions, grow market share, enhance SOW, and embed credit management and protections strategies in every financial plan.

 

The division is currently recruiting a Vice President, National Sales Manager, Insurance Solutions to play a critical role in leading our insurance sales network.

 

About the Role:

The VP, National Sales Manager Insurance Solutions is responsible for sales strategy, sales and pipeline management  and execution oversight aligned to  achieve IG’s insurance sales targets. This individual will lead a team that executes initiatives aligned to growth strategies and directly engages in coaching activities across all advisor channels to achieve insurance sales targets. This role requires working effectively across internal and external stakeholder groups, maintaining a client focus and managing the complexities of business development for insurance and estate planning. This individual is a leader in the IG Wealth Management organization and is able to meet and exceed insurance sales targets.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Sales and Pipeline Management to Achieve Sales Targets

  • Lead a team of Insurance and Estate business development specialists that directly engage with IG advisors and leaders in the following activities to achieve sales targets:

    • Provide in-depth insurance and estate expertise (including niche HNW products) in  financial planning scenarios and HNW cases

    • Run Regional Office events to build understanding of the offering and how to engage in financial planning conversations

    • Provide advisor coaching on identifying opportunities in the corporate advisor channels

    • Leverage estate planning conversations to identify and meet our clients insurance needs 

  • Engage IG Regional and Senior Vice-Presidents across all advisor channels (IG Wealth Connect, Corporate, Entrepreneurial) and vendor partners in growing and managing the Insurance pipeline

  • Assess the ability to achieve growth targets given the Insurance pipeline with key internal stakeholders and external vendors/partners

  • Manage, review, and assess the results of the insurance portfolio and expertise activities provided by specialist team to advisors

 

Strategy Development & Execution Oversight

  • Work closely with product leaders to develop annual advisors channel strategies and plans in alignment with product growth agendas

  • Oversee and collaborate on strategies to provide private wealth solutions for complex scenarios

  • Oversee planning and execution of strategies and engagement plans to deploy specialist team against Consultant channels to achieves sales targets

  • Lead internal stakeholders in the development of annual insurance targets and incentives associated with Consultant channels; monitor and track progress against objectives

  • Oversee initiatives aligned with channel strategy and growth targets

 

Collaboration with Internal & External Stakeholders

  • Build and maintain relationships with RVPs, SVPs, and PWM VPs across the country; share and collaborate on strategies, provide updates, business unit briefings, collect feedback, and deal with challenges

  • Represent Estate & Insurance in Senior Leadership distribution calls (SVP led area meetings)

  • Work with external stakeholders (vendors, partners) to align on product information and sales strategies

 

Leadership and People Management

  • Establish the prime human resources management processes of all direct reporting teams, providing coaching, guidance, performance management oversight, technical and leadership in all associated activities and initiatives

  • Consistently act as a coach and mentor, and maintain a view as a leader within Mortgage, Insurance & Banking, and more broadly across IG Wealth Management

 

Requirements

  • 7 + years working in a sales or business development role

  • 7 + years in a leadership role

  • 5 + years in the mortgage and banking industry

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, or post-secondary education in a related field

  • CFP (or Pl. Fin), CIM, FMA, CFA, FCSI designations are an asset

  • Expert knowledge of the financial services industry, specializing in estate and insurance (i.e., conditions, trends, competitors, etc.)

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the business drivers in the insurance industries (i.e., conditions, trends, competitors, etc.)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of product and service offerings and salesforce

  • Brings high credibility with IG sales leaders across all channels

  • Ability to oversee and mobilize multiple projects and excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Highly skilled at motivating and influencing teams

  • Strong strategic planning and business management skills

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
