Enbridge is actively seeking a Communication Technician. This role will be responsible to safely plan and implement preventative maintenance an repairs to ensure critical network sustainment and standards of performance are met. (CER regulated) the safety and reliability of the related assets. This communications technician position includes a variety of jobs and tasks related to the role.

What You Will Do:

Evaluates and recommends improvements to present radio communications systems relating to SCADA
-
Prepares bid packages, evaluates and awards contracts related to communications. Provides capital budget material for new wireless systems

Provides field inspections and repair of Company radio equipment and proper maintenance
-
Supports Delta V, Allen Bradley PLCs, and other OT systems
-
Experience with instrumentation and controls
-
Provides technical direction to Instrument and Electrical Technicians to facilitate troubleshooting in the field

Support multiple types of communication (fiber and ethernet)
-
Support communication protocols (TCP, Modbus, Fieldbus, etc)
-
Support security software; cameras and capable of adding equipment to the system

Support access control and video surveillance system such as Genetec

Support OT and IT network switches, servers, firewalls, etc.
Required:
-
A minimum of five years of data communication systems technical experience.
-
Have extensive working knowledge and understanding of data communication systems, including communication using radio frequencies and the ability to solve technical problems as they arise.

Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, equipment vendors and service providers.

Ability to work independently, achieving Company Objectives
Preferred:
-
Associate’s degree in technology with emphasis in radio/communications systems.

Certification in Fiber Optics
-
Must successfully obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) as required by the Transportation Security Administration at the start of employment

Hold either a valid FCC, NABER or PCIA Certificate
Working Conditions:
-
Office environment with frequent travel. This is a field-based position with time in the field accounting for greater than 50% of the employees time.

Tower climbing knowledge and man lift experience in order to audit contractor installations.
-
Frequent travel throughout the region.
-
Occasional work-generated disruptions to off-the-job personal activities. This includes extended working hours or handling after-hours calls from field staff requesting technical direction and/or assistance. (Approximately 2 to 4 times per month)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

Company paid international relocation is not offered for this role.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 25 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects up to 25 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
