What You Will Do:

  • Operate and maintain high pressure (HP) pipelines and facilities.

  • Monitor on-call, tickets, and contact contractors about proximity to HP lines.

  • Perform standby excavation monitoring at HP crossings or when contractors are working near HP pipelines.

  • Under general supervision, perform operations, inspections, and maintenance (leak repair, replacement) on natural gas facilities.

  • Assist with pipeline shut down procedures. Perform line marking, pipeline patrols, initiates class location studies, etc.

  • Maintain all equipment assigned (vehicle and operations equipment).

Who You Are:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 6 months to 1.5 years’ of qualifying senior utility worker experience or 1 – 2 years’ construction experience i.e. utility construction, related welding experience, or gas operations experience.

  • Valid driver’s license will be verified upon hire.

  • Knowledge of or ability to understand and follow high-pressure, construction, and maintenance procedures and policies.

  • Knowledge of operating and construction safety practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of or ability to understand the high pressure distribution system.

  • Knowledge of construction equipment operation.

  • Knowledge of or ability to recognize pipeline diameters, thickness, and grades in relation to one another.

  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, personal computer and related software.

  • Knowledge of basic math to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to perform the four operations with decimals and fractions.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift 100 pounds.

  • Travel 26-50%; Radiation Up to 25%; Pressurized Lines and Valves 76-100%; Outdoors 76-100%

  • Operating Machinery Up to 25%; Loud Noise 26-50%; Heat 51-75%; Fumes 51-75%

  • Energized Wires Up to 25%; Dust / Grease / Oil 51-75%; Confined Spaces 26-50%

  • Confined spaces Up to 25%; Office Work Environment Up to 25%

This is a permanent full-time position. The successful candidate will receive:

  • Competitive salary with benefits starting day one of employment

  • Eligible for short term incentive program or bonus

  • Annual vacation of three (3) weeks

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 100 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to work in tight spaces

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
