What you will do

  • Partners with client groups integrating human resources strategies and practices with business strategies and operating plans.

  • Partners with business management to achieve business results by providing strategic and tactical leadership, counsel and advice concerning Human Resource matters.

  • Facilitates the development and management of the workforce including recruitment, hiring, training & development, career development, succession planning, retention etc.

  • Provides leadership implementing performance management, compensation, pension & benefit, and training & development programs.

  • Ensures consistent implementation and interpretation of Human Resource Policies and practices to achieve legislative and Collective Agreement compliance. In partnership with Labor Relations, manages the grievance procedure.

  • Partners with specialty HR functions to develop, improve and revise Policy and Program initiatives representing Employee Relations.

 

Who you are

Required:

  • University degree in HR management or relevant discipline. Equivalent experience will be considered.

  • 6 years’ experience in Human Resources function.

  • Direct Labor relations experience.

  • Excellent understanding of Human Resource best practices and Labor legislation.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working within a large diverse organization supporting and providing sound guidance to leaders at all levels on sensitive matters.

  • Previous experience with an assigned client area.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects across departments and geographic areas

 

Preferred:

  • MBA or other professional qualification (CPHR, PHP, or SHRM – CP designation) would be considered an asset.

 

Working Conditions

  • Office environment.

  • Subject to extended hours from time to time.

  • Deals with sensitive issues (i.e., policy non-compliance, employee disciplinary matters, etc.)

  • 10-25% travel with US and Canada as required depending on the client groups supported. Valid passport is required.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
