Measurement Analyst Sr. Advisor holds advanced level knowledge of technical information associated with meters, regulatory requirements and measurement data.  The position performs an analysis of measurement issues, understands FERC, NAESB and Tariff provisions related to measurement, and manages supporting computer systems.  USGTM has over 5000 meters that need to be analyzed and processed and requires a Sr. Analyst Advisor to perform the associated functions. What You Will Do:

  • Reviews and edits gas measurement data to ensure accuracy of volumes provided to downstream systems, including revenue billing system and customer interface system.

  • Assists in the resolution of gas balance discrepancies and issues.

  • Works closely with Capacity Services and customers to address measurement related issues including investigating false flow, OBA variances

  • Works with team members and information technology groups to enhance existing applications used to record and manage measurement information based on business, legal or regulatory changes.  Additionally, assists with the development of new applications to address changing business needs, operational monitoring and reporting requirements.

  • Evaluates FERC gas tariffs and NAESB standards to understand measurement requirements.   Then, utilizes this knowledge to perform analysis to ensure gas flowing into the system meets such requirements and does not negatively impact customers, contracts or regulations.

  • Coordinates with interfacing groups such as Marketing, Business Development, Regulatory, Legal, Field personnel, and Customer Support to analyze and address issues associated with measurement.  This may include evaluating and responding to customer issues, reviewing proposed tariff language, providing feedback on letters concerning legal issues and working with teams to address measurement/inventory discrepancies.

  • Works with field personnel to identify field equipment issues related to meters and gas chromatographs.

  • Resolves data discrepancies between custody and third party measurement

  • Advanced knowledge of various meter types and high level understanding of diagnostics related to meter issues

  • Provides mentorship and guidance to measurement analyst/reps to appropriate resolution of measurement or gas quality issues.

  • Works closely with Senior Analyst/Senior Advisor and management to setup measurement correction guidelines

  • Develops and presents to measurement analytics and presentations to field personnel.

  • Assists in providing reports to governmental agencies and internal groups.

  • Develops and provides training to internals and customers

  • Assist with special projects such as new pipeline or storage facility implementations along with new interconnects.

  • Involved in business development including managing asset acquisition.

Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of Gas Measurement Principals including comprehensive understanding of imperial and metric measurement.

  • Good understanding of various meter types and AGA principles.

  • At least 6-8 years or direct measurement experience.

  • Thorough understanding of Gas Pipeline operations, pressure dimensions, interaction between the SCADA system and measurement

  • Work under very minimal supervision and make independent decisions using high level measurement analytics

  • Thorough proficiency working with office computer applications such as Microsoft Office Products.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Prior experience with Measurement Applications such as Measurement Advisor (Sightline), FlowCal or other Measurement Applications.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or associates degree

  • Gas pipeline operations related experience including gathering and transmission systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office-related working conditions to include routine overtime work.

  • Ability to work on-call.

  • Company paid international relocation is not offered for this role.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, reads fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
