As a Solar Technician II, you’ll play a key role in keeping our solar plants operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. This position offers the opportunity to work independently while maintaining and troubleshooting inverters, DC field systems, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment. What You Will Do:

  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with safe work practices, including electrical safety and control of hazardous energy.
  • Follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, complete plans as directed and perform tasks according to reasonably detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Follow problem-solving processes to complete troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks (including the use of diagnostic tools – fluke meter, SCADA information, interpreting electrical, mechanical, and civil drawings etc.)
  • Effectively gather information regarding equipment status. Seek assistance when encountering equipment issues outside of trained skill level to ensure success in execution of duties.
  • Ensure scheduled plant maintenance is conducted safely and achieved on time. Ensure accurate time reporting and completion of Maintenance records.
  • Identify risks and gaps in task execution in the operational environment of a solar facility and apply mitigation methods with appropriate oversight.
  • Participate in the development or improvement of procedures and services.
  • Conduct tests and interact with people in demanding and time sensitive work environments.
  • Perform data entry in the Maintenance Management System (Maximo).

Who You Are:

                You have:

  • 1-2 years of related work experience along with a High School Diploma and advanced skills in scheduled/standard work, electrical switching, SCADA and troubleshooting abilities (both basic and advanced)
  • A solid understanding of solar powered related systems, including but not limited to Inverter, PV Array, Tracker and power plant systems while being experienced using basic power and hand tools

  • Read, interpret, and understand electrical drawings and schematics while having an unwavering commitment to providing a safe, incident free work environment where you demonstrate industrial safety practices and protocols including LOTO
  • Show strong attention to detail with the ability to follow directions with precise execution

You are:

  • Knowledgeable with maintenance scheduling, availability reporting, inventory management, on-time performance requirements and site supervision while being a proven problem solver with great time management skills
  • Excellent using a computer having working knowledge of Microsoft Windows programs, Solar SCADA Systems, Software Uploading, Maintenance Management Programs (Maximo)

Working Conditions:

  • Some travel may be needed to assist other facilities on occasion. Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Role will require being on-call (24/7) to respond to emergencies and/or maintenance needs of the site (on a pre-determined, scheduled basis).
  • The successful candidate will undergo various background screening that includes but is not limited to a 5-year driving record, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 50 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to work in tight spaces.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, prioritize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, coordinate and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
