As a Sr Advisor, Lands & Right-of-Way, you will play a critical role in the development and execution of major U.S. projects, providing expert guidance across land acquisition, real property, and project execution. What You Will Do:

  • Develop and execute land and permit acquisition strategies, that may result in unique or challenging issues.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with landowners and landowner organizations.

  • Manage landowner complaint and reporting processes in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and implement project specific land acquisition and risk mitigation plans that include stakeholder engagement, acquisition, construction monitoring, damage settlement and transition phases of projects.

  • Directs project teams of contract Land personnel and other third-party consultants on acquisition strategies in a manner that meets project schedule, scope and budgets.

  • Review and approve checks written by agents in the field and maintain responsibility for compliance with corporate check writing and accounting guidelines.

  • Develop and manage schedules, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for ROW projects.

  • Provide quality assurance and training programs to ensure consistency in treatment of stakeholders.

  • Direct and monitor third party consultants performing research and preparation of acquisition calculations, title work, reports, permits, documents and data.

  • Liaise with inter/intra-company staff, governments and regulatory agencies, landowners and occupants, and members of the general public. Ensure compliance with all landowner notification requirements as required by regulatory agencies.

  • Assist in developing standard project communications, including mailouts and documents to be presented to the public and landowners.

  • Represent Lands & ROW and/or the Project at judicial and regulatory hearings and public meetings.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee strategies with respect to accessing land, land compensation and permitting in support of capital projects.

  • Support other Projects SMEs in their work including route analysis and development, development of regulatory applications, project communications, field surveys, etc.

  • Provides expertise for the settlement of damage claims.

Who You Are:

  • High School Diploma or Degree, with additional course work or relevant experience in related field. (Forestry, Environment, Land Management, Geology, Agriculture or other Natural Sciences, Business, Finance, Real Estate)

  • Certification in or enrollment in a Project Management Program is considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 7 years land and project management related experience in Gas Projects including linear or facility projects.

  • Experience in project execution and overseeing third-party consultants in the ROW profession with demonstrated ability to direct and manage work.

  • Knowledgeable in land related aspects encountered during pipeline construction or pipeline operations.

  • Effective verbal, written, computer, problem solving, project management and decision-making skills.

  • Effective communicator and team leader.

  • Ability to interpret applicable legislation, regulations and processes for projects which are federally and state regulated.  This includes but is not limited to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Working Conditions:

  • Office work with up to 50% out of the office for travel across US.

  • Work or interact with broad range of Company office and field staff, supervisors and managers, regulatory personnel, contractors and consultants, landowners, landowner groups, corporate representatives, and other stakeholders. 

  • Frequently changing priorities and job requirements.

Include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
