What You Will Do:

  • Determine size, material, and placement of new main installations in new and existing neighborhoods. Determine design parameters for all new district stations and stations being rebuilt.

  • Work with other departments to complete analysis, design, technical specifications, drafting, and permitting for all subdivisions, main extensions, multi-family dwellings, reinforcements, relocations, and replacements.

  • Responsible for entire project lifecycle for New Business and Gas Main Relocation projects – Initiation, Planning, Design, Drafting, Permitting, Cost Estimating, Forecasting, Cost Monitoring and Control, and Closeout.

  • Contribute to construction schedule prioritization of projects by working collaboratively with Construction counterparts and coordinating projects in time and cost-effective manner.

  • Attend Public Utility Coordinating Committee meetings to remain in contact with the local municipalities and become proactively aware of proposed projects and resolve potential conflicts. Negotiate with municipalities to minimize gas main relocations and maximize cost sharing opportunities.

  • Represent Enbridge at stakeholder meetings for third party projects to communicate and negotiate the company’s requirements for gas main location and protection of existing gas assets.

  • Complete training for and participate in an On-Call rotation to support field staff during response to system emergencies occurring across the regions.

  • Provide accurate record information, network analysis, affected customer data, system isolation information and other distribution planning information during system emergencies on a 24/7 basis during an On-Call rotation.

  • Support Operations field staff on day-to-day tasks by providing gas network information, conducting compression coupling searches, and assisting with work order creation during regular business hours.

Who You Are:

  • University degree or related construction or operational training with 24 years of previous related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and negotiation skills.

  • Proven effective working relationships with peers and internal/external customers.

  • Thorough knowledge of various computer software programs including spreadsheet and word processor.

  • Knowledge of Planning, Design & Records, Operation & Maintenance, and Construction policies and procedures.

  • Working Knowledge with Maximo, e-GIS, planning and records is an asset.

  • Job shadowing, cross training or work experience from any of the following departments: Construction, M&R, Corrosion, Leak Survey

  • In depth business, industrial and company knowledge is required to perform design analysis function effectively, recognizing impacts on capital dollars and understanding Codes, Standards and regulations is required.

Preferred:

  • Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist or equivalent, or Project management certificate/experience is an asset.

  • Successful completion of Pipeline inspection school/additional on the job training is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is office based with regular visits to the field.
