Are you a leader in Geohazard Pipeline Integrity? Do you enjoy collaborating with knowledgeable colleagues toward a same goal of safety? In this Geohazard Sr Engineer role you will manage the key decisions determining the need to make pipeline inspections and repairs or identify other remediation requirements to proactively manage Geohazards to the pipeline system.

Here’s what you will do:

  • Execution of the geotechnical programs for identifying, implementing, managing, and monitoring geohazards.

  • Conduct multidisciplinary pipeline integrity assessments with consultants to review land movement and inertial measurement unit (IMU) data for potential geohazard threats.

  • Coordinate investigations for geotechnical assessments of pipeline Right of Way’s to determine potential for exposures, unsupported spans, slope stability, and pipeline movement.

  • Provide project support to execution teams for active and proposed construction mitigation projects (Core projects, Operations) for geohazard mitigation or geohazard avoidance

  • Support the preparation of annual capital and operating budgets and long-range plans for geohazard management and mitigation related activities.

  • Mentor and support junior staff and stakeholders in geohazard management and continuous improvement.

  • Support Integrity Engineering in activities such as pressure restriction removal, audits, failure investigation, engineering assessments, etc. as assigned.

Who you are:

You have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.

  • Professional Engineer designation (for Canadian candidates).

  • 6+ years of increasing responsibility in engineering experience in the pipeline industry.

  • Experience in geotechnical monitoring instrumentation (i.e., strain gauges, slope inclinometers, etc.) and land movement strain inline inspection techniques.

  • Experience in managing geohazard projects from the design or integrity perspective including a focus on mitigation strategies.

  • Field experience in earthwork construction and related geotechnical construction practices is helpful.

  • Skill to embrace change and have desire to seek process improvements.

  • Ability to influence and work effectively with others.

  • Drive disciplined analysis through utilizing computer software, excel spreadsheets and data analysis tools necessary to conduct detailed data analyses.

  • Communicate effectively with excellent presentation and technical writing skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is office based with occasional requirements to travel to field excavations, regulatory audits, industry committees/conferences, and region and field offices. Occasional travel to Houston office is required.

  • Domestic travel up to 20% of the time.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and may work around moving machinery, high pressure piping, and in or around excavations.
