Our IRP team is looking for an outstanding Sr Strategy & Policy Lead to join our dynamic IRP team. In this role, you will work independently and as a key strategic contributor to the broader team for the evaluation and planning for IRP initiatives designed to reduce, defer or eliminate the need for future traditional pipeline facilities, and you will collaborate with many internal groups in the evaluation of alternative non-facility solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Note: Internally this role is referred to as Specialist IRP.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead strategy and policy requirements and project management associated with the evaluation of IRP alternatives for IRP Plans, and associated substantiation.

  • Develop evidence for IRP related Ontario Energy Board (OEB) filings including drafting evidence and defense of regulatory filing materials (IRP Plans, Non-IRP Leave-to-Construct applications, Annual Report etc).

  • Lead the development and evolution of IRP strategies, policies and processes to support an effective IRP framework for the evaluation and implementation of non-facility alternatives.

  • Lead ongoing engagement with key internal teams to establish, evolve and implement effective policies and processes that support IRP.

  • IRP strategic lead for cross-functional project initiatives as required.

  • Support execution of OEB decisions for IRP applications.

  • Lead consultation with external stakeholders on IRP initiatives as required.

  • Lead/undertake research and consultation efforts to identify and understand industry best practices, trends and lessons learned and provide analysis / recommendations for incorporating into strategy development and initiative implementation inclusive of project management with third parties as required.

Who You Are:

  • Related university degree (preferred Business, Economics, Engineering or another related field).

  • 6+ years of experience in the energy sector – direct policy / regulatory / asset management, economic evaluation or regulatory accounting related job experience is preferred.

  • Strong project management experience and problem-solving skills with a proven track record to identify solutions to complex requirements and act within an evolving environment. A project management designation is an asset.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to summarize and synthesize complex material to identify issues and develop strategies to address them.

  • Positive relationship building, and collaboration skills across a diverse network of departments and personnel.

  • Experience leading multi-faceted projects and influencing without authority.

  • Technical understanding of energy conservation, and process to plan system investment requirements to meet system needs is preferred.

  • Regulatory experience is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • This position operates in an office work environment with occasional travel.
