What you will do:

  • Supervise and support the FA team during month end close activities including Unitizations, Asset Retirement Obligations, Retirements, Depreciation, etc.

  • Analyze and review financial information, financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the output.

  • Review monthly account reconciliations. 

  • Provide support to various OEB and regulatory requests and filings including assistant in rate rebasing requests. 

  • Review the current FA subledger setup and work on process improvements.

  • Support Unify for the conversation of the current GDS accounting systems (R12, SAP, and Power plan).

  • Coordinate with other departments regarding month-end close, special projects/requests, and lead all aspects of issue resolution. 

  • Working closely with the various client groups within GDS to support partner needs and act as a liaison and mentor to team from identification of issue to solutioning and implementation.

  • Lead and coach the team to promote collaboration of teamwork and empower team members to achieve common goals from on a day-to-day basis.

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and Internal Control requirements. 

  • Independently perform all assignments with little to no supervision.

  • Analyze and solve sophisticated problems. Makes recommendations to managements for continuous improvement in accounting and business processes and procedures.

  • Primary representative in meetings with other corporate or business departments for special projects, business initiatives, or to discuss complex accounting matters.

  • Special projects and adhoc requests.
     

Who you are:

You have:

  • CPA and related university degree along with a minimum of 10+ years directly related experience.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills combined with a results-oriented mentality while being able to share knowledge, experience, and training with all team members in a non-biased manner.

  • Been able to accurately evaluate people’s capabilities and fit to appropriately assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on roles and skills possessed.
     

You can:

  • Show a solid understanding of accounting principles, related systems, processes, and company structure.

  • Independently assess, exercise good judgement, and accurately resolve complex issues encountered in the performance of job duties

  • Lead component providing coaching, direction and review of work performed while being able to develop team members on routine, non-routine and/or complex assignments.
     

You are:

  • Able to complete complicated, non-routine assignments.

  • Proactive and skilled at anticipating problems before they arise and implementing mitigations.

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with an ability to be persuasive and communicate in a clear, concise, and organized manner.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
