What you will do:
- Perform layout, cutting and welding work as required.
- Perform other general pipeline work as assigned when not engaged in welding activities (reference Senior Maintenance Technician profile).
- Prepares as-built drawings as required following completion of all work projects.
- Assumes the responsibility of lead hand/inspector as assigned directing the activities of a small group of contractors and equipment.
- Ensure that all tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order.
- Perform other related duties including emergency response.
Who you are:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or GED equivalent and Certified Journeyperson Welder with typically 3-5 years of directly relevant training and experience.
- Good leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Required to pass annual welder qualification tests.
- Undergo various background screening that includes but is not limited to 5 year driving record, criminal check and a company sponsored medical and drug testing.
- Role requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, which will be verified with a driver’s abstract check prior to hire. Class 1A driver’s license is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Mix of office and field, with frequent travels along the Right-of-Way and to various stations within Canada and United States.
- Hours of work vary depending on workload, emergency response, capital projects and line schedules; may on occasion be required to work extended hours, including weekends, nights and holidays.
- 9/80 work schedule with On-call approximately 10 weeks per year.
- Responsible for responding to emergency conditions (line leaks, equipment breakdowns, etc.)
- Mandatory training requirements.
- Occasionally overtime will be required.
