Postion Title: Senior Manager, Credit Policy Governance, Real Estate and Lending

 

Purpose
The Senior Manager RESL Credit Policy Governance is responsible for ensuring the alignment of Real Estate Secured Lending policies and procedures with the Residential Mortgage Underwriting Policy (RMUP) and associated regulatory requirements. This role is a subject matter expert in credit and plays an integral part in the first-line credit policy governance process.

 

What You’ll Do
•    Oversee the first-line implementation of the RMUP and ensure its alignment with Guideline B-20. Lead the annual process for first-line attestation to Guideline B-20.
•    Champion enhancements to the credit policy control environment across the first-line and lead the implementation of regulatory-driven policy changes affecting the mortgage underwriting process.
•    The incumbent will be the business-line point of contact for credit policy testing, associated investigations and remediation plans. Sources of these testing activities include the Mortgage Account Governance Structure, Policy Adherence and Effectiveness, and 1B B-20 Control Testing.
•    Point of contact for the Real Estate Secured Lending business line in support of default insurer mortgage file reviews.
•    Lead the development and implementation of action plans to address any credit policy deficiencies identified in testing activities.
•    Provide guidance and support to the first-line Real Estate Secured Lending team on interpreting and applying credit risk policies.
•    Uphold strong governance and risk culture through active oversight of policy, controls, and regulatory frameworks.
•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

What You’ll Bring
•    University Degree and 5+ years of financial services experience
•    Expert knowledge of mortgage credit, the underwriting process, and lending policies
•    Expert knowledge of the Scotiabank mortgage process across all origination and servicing channels
•    Expert knowledge of OSFI regulation B-20 and its application to mortgage origination activities
•    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
•    Strong financial acumen with a full understanding of the P&L drivers of the mortgage business
Knowledge of Scotiabank’s mortgage technology platforms that support application, adjudication, accounting, and servicing activities. The incumbent should understand the purpose and high-level work flows and limitations of MIMS, TLS, DRE, MAPS, ScotiaHOME, eHOME

 

Working Conditions
•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. 
•    In office, on-site 4+ days per week.
