Come be a part of the team.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and reliable Assistant Groundskeeper to support the maintenance and care of our natural grass soccer and football fields. The Assistant Groundskeeper will work under the guidance of the Head Groundskeeper to ensure the fields are in optimal condition for all sporting events, practices, and other activities. This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong passion for sports turf management.Assist in maintaining the soccer and football fields, including mowing, edging, aeration, fertilization, and overseeding.Monitor the condition of the grass, soil, and irrigation systems, and report any issues or concerns to the Groundskeeper Supervisor.Perform routine field inspections to ensure proper field conditions for safety and playability.Assist in the preparation and setup of the fields for matches, including marking field lines and goalpost setup.Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, blowers, aerators, and sprayers.Assist with irrigation management, ensuring the fields are properly watered, especially during dry or hot conditions.Apply pesticides, fertilizers, and other treatments according to established schedules and safety protocols. Pesticide and/or IPM licenses is an asset.Assist in the management and upkeep of the surrounding landscape and stadium grounds, including trimming shrubs, weeding, and general outdoor maintenance.Help prepare fields for special events and non-sporting activities as needed.Maintain accurate records of field maintenance, including fertilization, pesticide application, and equipment usage.Collaborate with the Head Groundskeeper and other team members to implement and maintain best practices for field care.Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when working with equipment, chemicals, and in various weather conditions.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Groundskeeper.QualificationsNote: Before reviewing the qualifications listed below, we want you to know that we understand you may not meet all the qualifications described and have other relevant expertise and experience. Previous experience in professional sports is an asset.Knowledge of natural grass care, field maintenance techniques, and turfgrass species.Ability to operate and maintain lawn and grounds equipment, including mowers, blowers, and irrigation systems.Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and working in outdoor conditions.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good communication skills and the ability to follow directions.Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required for events and field maintenance schedules.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.Comfortable using and maintaining equipment for extended periods.Additional InformationApply by: March 18th, 2024We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
