Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) in North America and globally by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with the governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Senior Manager, US Business Deposit Products Strategy and New Initiatives, will be responsible for, and not limited to, supporting the Director, US Business Deposit Products in representing the US Deposits Product team in leading, planning and developing the strategic and tactical roadmap for the US business deposit product suite, identifying opportunities to further strengthen, bolster and grow the business deposit product suite in the US, conducting market research and analysis to inform the deposit product and functionality roadmap and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive the strategic and tactical roadmap.
This individual must have a well-rounded business skill set to plan and direct strategic and tactical initiatives across different US deposit product categories over the next several years and maintain a keen oversight into the financial services industry across the NAFTA/USMCA corridor and the global transaction banking market, at large
What You’ll Do:
- Conceptualizing, leading, contributing and developing the strategic and tactical roadmap for the US business deposit product suite, including but not limited to the following:
- Identify short/medium/long-term opportunities and define roadmaps
- Establishing, executing and supporting (where needed) on tactical plans
- Identifying opportunities and driving initiatives to establish, maintain and/or enhance our competitive position in the US and with the global market
- Supporting the Director, US Business Deposit Products by leading discoveries, market research, competitive landscape mapping, market screening etc. to create (and continuously enhance) the playbook for innovative and niche deposit product solutions
- Strategy lead representing the US Business Deposits Product team in various industry forums, enterprise strategy forums, internal working groups, cross-functional teams etc.
- Identifying opportunities to further strengthen, bolster and grow the business deposit product suite in the US by conducting research and analysis to suggest new products, features and enhancements that can be brought onto the US and global deposit offering, such as (but not limited to) the following –
- Sustainability-linked and ESG deposits
- FDIC
- Trust accounts (real estate)
- Escrows with collateral etc.
- Identify opportunities and conceptualize plans to leverage and scale deposit platforms, capabilities, functionalities etc. across jurisdictions / geographies to drive growth and sustainability within the broader deposits portfolio
- Partner with the COO GTB team, Deposit Product Owners, Product Managers, Technology teams, external vendors, internal teams and stakeholders etc. to provide insights, feedback, thought leadership and direction on future plans of the US business deposit products and the business
- Track, monitor and analyze deposit pricing (fees and service charges) and profitability at an account, customer, product category and total portfolio level.
- Suggest changes to approach and non-standard pricing adjudication methodology to increase overall revenue and profitability
- Regularly share updates on trends being observed on the deposit’s portfolio
- Partner with the Product Managers and Product Owners for RFI and RFP presentations and responses etc.
- Collaborate and share intelligence with the Product Owners and Product Managers to better inform their respective roadmaps and support them with building solutions that are nimble, flexible and forward looking
- Relationship Management and Communication
- Managing partner, business line, internal stakeholder, vendor, sales etc. relationships
- Participate in RFIs/RFPs and support stakeholders for ad hoc and on-going initiatives, as required
- Supporting senior leadership team and our partners as a point person for thought leadership and insights into the vision and strategic roadmap of the US business deposit products
- Effectively communicating strategic and tactical plans to all stakeholder teams
- Conduct regular education and training sessions with internal partners and cross-functional teams to provide insights into the short/medium/long-term outlook of the US business deposits product portfolio
- Providing subject matter expertise and thought leadership to partners as required
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
What You’ll Bring:
- 7+ years of experience with managing strategic initiatives or 7+ years of product management experience for global transaction banking products, specifically business banking products
- Knowledge of business deposit products, industry trends, sales practices, policies and procedures is an asset
- Product management (from a business standpoint, and not technology) experience is an asset
- A positive attitude combined with confidence to drive team priorities
- Knowledge of the Bank’s application systems and their relationships within the Bank is an asset
- Self-starter possessing confidence and initiative; able to cope with changing and evolving priorities while identifying new opportunities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and strategic negotiating skills
- University Degree in business or economics. MBA an asset
Work Arrangement:
- Located at our Toronto office
- Hybrid work environment with the expectation to be in office 4 times a week or as advised by leadership
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
- Limited travel domestically and to United States.
