Job Description

As part of the MLSE Venue and Capital Programs team, you will support the transformation of how our Venue Operations team manages, tracks, and completes work through our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), powered by 24/7 Software.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Venue & Ice Operations, the Maintenance Management System Design & Mechanical Systems Intern will play a key role in developing and implementing a digital Work Order (WO) and Preventive Maintenance framework within the 24/7 platform — enabling operational teams to transition from radio-based dispatching to structured, app-based workflows for our Venue Operations team. They will also be working with the Venue Operations team to implement this into the applications used on Scotiabank Arena’s mechanical systems.

This position will focus on leveraging the existing foundation of assets, locations, and task categories within the system and expanding on frameworks developed in prior internship projects. The goal is to optimize how MLSE’s operational teams interact with the CMMS — increasing visibility, accountability, and efficiency across all maintenance activities. As well as improve existing file, drawings, and mechanical system reporting structures.

MLSE’s Internship term dates are from May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the Work Order (WO) and preventative maintenance framework in 24/7 Software, defining structure, logic, and hierarchy that connect assets, locations, and task categories.
• Map existing operational workflows (currently managed via radio dispatch) and convert them into digital processes within the CMMS environment.
• Collaborate closely with the Venue Operations teams to identify functional requirements for mobile app usage, notifications, and task routing.
• Work hands-on with the Venue Operations team to support the integration and optimization of Building Automation Systems (BAS) within the CMMS platform.
• Assist in incorporating venue mechanical systems into CMMS applications to improve system tracking, reporting, and preventative maintenance planning.
• Standardize asset and location data, ensuring consistency, usability, and integration with the WO system, particularly for mechanical and building systems infrastructure.
• Configure system modules, templates, and naming conventions to support preventive, corrective, and event-driven maintenance activities.
• Organize and improve existing documentation, including mechanical drawings, reports, file structures, asset records, and technical documentation to enhance reporting accuracy and accessibility.
• Support various venue infrastructure initiatives, including mechanical, structural, electrical, and other building systems projects.
• Test and validate digital workflows through pilot deployments; collect feedback and refine system design.
• Design user documentation (training manuals, quick-reference guides, process maps, and presentations) to support system rollout and adoption.
• Support the creation of SOPs and digital job-aids to align team practices with the new CMMS framework.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a university or college in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Building Systems; Project Management; IT; or related discipline).
• Interest in or basic understanding of mechanical systems, building infrastructure, and/or building automation systems.
• Willingness to engage in hands-on collaboration within an operational venue environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of or interest in learning about CMMS software, maintenance management systems, and digital workflow optimization.
• Ability to perform well under pressure, multitask, and meet multiple deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in documentation and file organization.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Cloud required.
