Purpose

The Technical Business Analyst / Project Control Officer plays a hybrid role bridging business needs, technical solutions, and project governance. This individual works closely with Product Owners, Scrum Teams, Finance, and Project/Program Managers to ensure requirements are clearly defined, projects are financially controlled, delivery follows Agile practices, and onboarding and compliance activities are executed effectively.

The role supports Agile Scrum delivery while maintaining strong project controls related to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and governance.

The Technical Business Analyst will use Scrum knowledge to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders, Product Owners, and development teams to ensure requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered in alignment with Agile principles.

Our team is a mix of business quality analysts, developers, architects and workstream leads who provide value by delivering projects that meet the needs of our Business line. We develop Roadmaps, ensure end-to-end project delivery, write technical stories, develop code, perform extensive testing, manage stakeholders and connect related teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate and/or lead agile and scrum ceremonies. Identify opportunities for improvement and assist workstream in impediment removal.
  • Lead the requirement gathering, business definition and translation of business requirements to user story grooming that drive strategic transformation.
  • Works with key stakeholders within all business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies
  • Challenge assumptions and bring forward creative ideas to simplify, automate, and improve processes.
  • Perform gap analysis across systems and payment standards to identify opportunities for modernization.
  • Partner with Product, Business and Engineering to ensure readiness for delivery, testing, and post-implementation success.
  • Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to conduct risk mitigations and minimize dependencies
  • Champion continuous improvement by challenging current processes (or) execution methods and deliver better outcomes for customers.
  • Track project budgets, forecasts, actuals, and variances.
  • Support financial planning, cost tracking, and capitalization activities where applicable.
  • Prepare project financial reports and dashboards for leadership.
  • Assist with vendor onboarding, purchase orders, invoicing, and contract tracking.
  • Maintain project documentation, RAID logs, schedules, and status reports.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational project governance frameworks.
  • Support gate reviews, audits, and management reporting.
  • Coordinate onboarding/offboarding of project resources, including access and tool setup

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • You have 1+ year of experience in a Business/Quality Analyst, Project Coordinator (or) similar role
  • Scrum master certified (not required but of advantage) (CSM)

 

  • Excellent communication skills — able to present topics to technical and business groups.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile practices, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience in the Banking or Financial Services industry is a plus.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments, balancing short-term execution with long-term vision.
  • A strategic and analytical mindset — you see the big picture, connect patterns, and anticipate potential risks.
  • Curiosity and courage to ask why, challenge assumptions, and explore innovative solutions.
  • Proven experience in business process mapping, system analysis, and requirements documentation.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience conducting gap and impact analyses for large-scale systems or modernization programs.
  • Availability to work on-site (Scarborough) 3-4 days per week.
  • Financial tracking and project management tools (e.g., Clarity, SAP, Oracle, MS Project)

Working Conditions

Work in standard office-based environments located in Scarborough and Downtown Toronto; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. No external travel required.
