The Application Specialist serves as the primary liaison between the API Platform and its users. Working in close partnership with the Platform Product Manager, you will ensure a seamless, high-quality onboarding experience for internal business teams. You will act as a platform navigator, guiding tenants through technical complexities, tracking the tangible business value of every integration, and serving as a critical feedback loop between business stakeholders and engineering to drive platform evolution.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
• Tenant Navigation & Support: Act as the dedicated guide for internal business teams, ensuring a frictionless end-to-end onboarding experience to the API Platform products.
• Requirements Authoring (BRDs): Collaborate closely with Platform Product Manager to elicit requirements and draft comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) for new platform features and enhancements.
• Use Case Documentation: Develop detailed use case documentation and process flows to define how user interact with new platform capabilities.
• Value Realization: Effectively capture and document the specific business value for each onboarding, demonstrating how the platform enables business units to achieve their strategic goals.
• Platform Metrics & Data Management: Track, record, and analyze platform usage metrics, ensuring data integrity and providing visibility into adoption trends.
• Engineering & Product Liaison: Work closely with Engineering to resolve tenant queries and clarify technical requirements for new feature builds.
• Feedback & Improvement: Collect and share user feedback with the Product Manager to influence the roadmap and make the platform more intuitive.
• Documentation Stewardship: Maintain and proactively update all platform documentation, including onboarding guides, technical wikis, and self-service resources.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate clear communication and alignment between business stakeholders, engineering teams, and product leadership.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field.
• Experience: 3-5 years in a Technical BSA or Product Analyst role, ideally within an API or Platform-centric environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of API management concepts and the ability to navigate complex technical platform offerings.
• Technical Writing: Proven ability to draft formal BRDs, functional specifications, and detailed user stories/use cases.
• Data & Analytics Expertise: Advanced knowledge of SQL for data extraction and Power BI for creating insightful usage and value reports (highly preferred).
• Communication Excellence: The ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language to assist non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer Obsession: A commitment to providing internal business teams with a “pleasant and smooth” professional experience.
• Operational Rigor: Strong attention to detail in recording data, tracking requirements, and keeping documentation and BRDs pristine.
• Collaboration: The ability to build strong relationships across matrixed teams, from software engineers to business executives.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect raw platform usage data and new feature requirements to broader business outcomes.
• Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to navigating roadblocks for tenants and clarifying technical ambiguities.
