Job Description
As the Director of Financial Reporting & Controls at MLSE, you will lead the financial reporting process to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards. You will oversee internal controls, manage external audits, provide strategic financial guidance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Developing and mentoring a team of finance professionals will be crucial to support the organization’s financial reporting objectives, while also overseeing MLSE’s Treasury & Cash Management, foreign exchange program, Canadian and US Tax, and Enterprise Risk & Insurance teams.
Financial Reporting:
- Develop monthly and quarterly reporting packages
- Prepare annual financial statements
- Provide guidance on accounting issues and compliance
- Lead year-end audit process
Treasury, Cash Management and Foreign Exchange:
- Support liquidity management
- Oversee daily cash balances and debt positions
- Ensure compliance with debt covenants
- Oversee MLSE’s hedging program
Tax:
- Develop and implement Canadian and US tax strategies
- Manage tax compliance and audits
- Monitor changes in tax legislation
Enterprise Risk and Insurance:
- Support Enterprise Risk Management program
- Lead MLSE’s insurance program
Capital Reporting:
- Oversee financial analysis and support capital process
- Ensure appropriate treatment of leases under IFRS 16
Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
- CPA designation.
- 10+ years of Finance & Accounting experience.
- 5+ years of team leadership experience.
- Sports and entertainment industry experience is an asset.
