What you will be doing:
The Director, Program Management will lead and oversee our Next Gen Capabilities portfolio of work across business and technology. As the Director, you will be responsible for executing strategic initiatives, managing project teams, implementing new ways of working and operating model, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects within scope, on time, and within budget. This role will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Tangerine Bank.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Project Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with Tangerine’s strategic goals and business objectives.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring that projects are prioritized and resourced effectively to deliver maximum business value.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leaders and our external consulting partner to define and drive the strategic roadmap of initiatives, identifying key opportunities and potential risks.
- Risk Management: Implement robust project management methodologies and processes to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, technology teams, and external partners, to ensure alignment and transparency throughout project lifecycles.
- Resource Management: Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to optimize project outcomes while controlling costs.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and ensure the quality of project deliverables, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance project management practices and streamline processes.
- Support Operating Model Evolution: Implement changes to evolve the Tangerine Bank operating model in partnership with our external consulting partner, acting as a champion for new ways of working.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular project status reports and documentation to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making.
- Talent Development: Mentor and develop project management professionals within the team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
- Establish and maintain industry-leading standards for operational and business excellence, consistent and in keeping with industry best practices and Bank Standards (e.g. service standards, audit, compliance, regulatory, operational risk).
- Ensure the necessary operating systems, policies, procedures, resources and structures are in place and are maintained to effectively achieve the standards for operational and business excellence. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a equivalent experience; MBA or PMP certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, with a track record of successfully managing complex transformation in banking or digital business sector.
- Hands-on experience in working in an agile delivery environment; exposure to business agility is a plus
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience in strategic planning and portfolio management.
- Sound understanding of retail banking products and digital banking technologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the financial industry.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering business outcomes.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment.
