We’re looking for a Drafter Estimator to join our team and play a key role in supporting infrastructure and construction initiatives. Responsibilities/Job Description: 

  • Co-ordinate municipal, highway, railway & right-of-way processes including specific drawings as required to secure easement and consent to construct.

  • Complete field work for cost estimates, permits, measurements, etc.

  • Interact with internal departments as required (i.e. Distribution Planning, Mapping Services, Transmission, Planning, Materials Management, Operations Engineering, Land, etc.).

  • Create standard and ad hoc plots, maps and work packages as required for general and specific district activities (i.e. Leak, Corrosion, Depth of Cover, Class Location).

  • Update record management and filing systems with paper and/or digital information.

  • Assist with improving data integrity in corporate information systems (i.e. CARS, GIS, Banner, etc.).

  • Support for Utility Services/Construction during emergency situations (i.e. line breaks).

  • Perform other departmental duties as requested by Manager Construction & Growth or designate.

 Qualifications: 

  • Must possess a college diploma or university degree in a technical/engineering program with a preference in: Architecture, Civil, Survey or Construction or have a minimum of five (5) years related work experience
    relevant to Mapping, Drafting, Planning and Estimating procedures/techniques.

  • Must have experience and knowledge in AutoCAD.

  • Must be able to read and interpret detailed pipeline construction drawings.

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, using technical terms with managers, team leads, contractors, municipal officers, field personnel and customers.

  • Must possess good organization skills with attention to detail.

  • Current valid drivers’ license and maintenance of a responsible driving record.
