Job Description
As the General Manager of Toronto’s premiere entertainment destination, you will deliver and maintain a culture of service and hospitality within RS. Your leadership and mentorship will provide strategic direction to the team. You will ensure MLSE’s high-quality service and safety standards are upheld, and the key objectives of the Food and Beverage department are met and exceeded.
- Effectively lead all areas of the business operation including external contractors, programming, guest services, security, purchasing, catering and restaurant.
- Provide continuous leadership and mentorship to Managers.
- Develop and implement business plans and strategies; prepare and monitor operating and capital budgets that align with the Food and Beverage department’s vision, driving sales and delivering on budgets.
- Work in conjunction with MLSE’s Finance, IT, Human Resources and Culinary departments, holding dotted-line responsibilities as it relates to the employees supporting the business.
- Ensure appropriate sales tracking, inventory and accounting systems are in place and followed.
- Apply expertise and a strategic outlook in developing and growing programs and events.
- Build, handle and leverage client relationships and business partnerships.
- Build and maintain a positive culture by leading from the front and being a brand ambassador.
- Foster a “one team” approach while adhering to MLSE service standards and policies.
Qualifications
- 2+ years Regional Manager or 5 years as a General Manager in a high-volume restaurant, bar environment or high-volume food & beverage operation
- Ongoing awareness and responsiveness to providing outstanding service to guests
- Confident user of MS Office, inventory and POS programs
- Experienced with operational budget management and cost control measures
- A talent for negotiating contracts and handling resources to accomplish organizational objectives
- Outstanding interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop professional relationships
- Skilled in strategic planning and organization development
- Strong business acumen and a visionary for identifying opportunities
- Ability to enhance and lead a positive, and innovative work environment with a history in successfully leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team
- An effective problem solver, motivated by results and alert to change
- Shown to perform well under pressure; run and lead multiple priorities simultaneously
- Trained in WHMIS, Smart Serve, ServSafe, NFSTP or equivalent
- Skilled knowledge of food, wine, beer, and spirits
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as the need arises
- A positive, winning approach, incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion
