In this Manager role, you will contribute to the overall success of the central Compliance Monitoring team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will also ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:
Lead pillar AI/Advanced Analytics efforts by defining strategic use cases and establishing a long-term vision that enhances enterprise compliance monitoring in alignment with the Data Risk Management Framework.
Design and implement processes that integrate cross-functional compliance reviews into annual reporting, helping to prioritize risks and inform oversight decisions.
Support establishment of principle-based guidelines for Monitoring Governance and Oversight activities.
Facilitate pillar standardization and automation efforts for utilizing integrated dashboard to support quarterly insights and oversight reports.
Lead effort to craft and refine reporting requirements, and support efforts to strengthen the monitoring program oversight and effective challenge capabilities.
Regularly utilize analytics and insights for aggregated monitoring activities to analyze existing capabilities and identify patterns, themes, or trends in compliance controls that may indicate weaknesses or gaps.
Drive establishment of feedback mechanisms between other pillars including Testing to ensure consistent oversight and risk reconciliation.
Partner with Compliance Subject Matter Experts, Technology, and Data Analytics specialists to help generate meaningful insights.
Coordinate and support efforts across the bank to document and update monitoring activities within the enterprise systems and ensure alignment with enterprise reporting requirements.
Prepare discussion documents for process design workshops, communicate outcomes to stakeholders, and ensure actions/issues are tracked through to resolution.
Assist in assessing monitoring and surveillance controls across business lines and identifying key priority capabilities to be implemented.
Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do You Have the Skills?
Professional with 3+ years of experience in banking or financial services, including at least one year in risk or compliance-related roles.
Strong analytical and reporting skills, including experience working with AI analytics, Power BI, and advanced Excel capabilities for managing and interpreting large datasets.
Experience in compliance or reporting functions, with a focus on designing standardized oversight processes supported by advanced analytics.
Driven and results-oriented, with a proven track record of leading change and process improvement initiatives.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CSC, CPA, CFA) are considered an asset but are not mandatory.
