The Manager, Market Risk and Analysis is accountable for the overall management of market risk across Canadian Wealth Management. The role will focus on mitigating risk to Global Wealth Management and its clients, driven by market events and movements and using data analysis and modelling. The Manager will also focus on monitoring market trends, analyzing economic and political events and implementing risk management plans to minimize potential losses.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Monitor market activity for security price fluctuations and evaluate accounts holding the position & take any corrective action necessary
- Identify and update securities with incorrect loan values in multiple systems and applications
- Stay abreast of macro-economic events that will drive market fluctuations
- Investigate non-routine problems and discrepancies to determine risk and exposure, and make decisions to minimize financial impact, protect the firm’s reputation, and prevent litigation
- Gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
- Analyze data and information to provide risk-related insights and build monitoring and trending program to track patterns of client behaviors
- Employ stress tests, quantitative analysis and modelling
- Build risk reporting, such as KRIs and KPIs
- Assume responsibility for existing Access Databases, making changes as required
- Lead a team of analysts to further market risk and analysis activities
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University degree preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in financial analysis of the markets, especially trading
- People leadership experience preferred
- Superior data analytics and quantitative analysis skills
- Advanced Microsoft Access skills
- Solid understanding of wealth management business
- Broadridge knowledge is an asset
- The ability to take initiative and employ creative problem-solving skills to make good judgement calls
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
