Global Technology & Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) is a key technology division of Scotiabank, providing critical infrastructure solutions and support to the bank globally and employing approximately 2,000 full-time employees and contractors, across 15 countries.
Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) is the central business office for GTEP. The SPO is the custodian of the overall GTEP Strategy and program delivery. Within SPO, the Global Technology & Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) Strategy team is focused on driving the design, execution, and the ongoing management of GTEP’s strategic planning process and strategic agenda.
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Strategy, Communications & Employee Engagement, you will be a key contributor to the overall success of GTEP, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. This role works closely with management, business line leaders, and a diverse set of partners to deliver strategic advice that solve business problems through research, analysis, compelling strategic recommendations, and execution monitoring.
You will also be responsible for leading high impact transformational projects to drive the Bank’s strategy across technology and ensuring roadmaps for GTEP services are aligned with the strategy.
Non-standard hours are a common occurrence for this role.
Is this role right for you?
- Interacts with key partners including senior leaders within the Bank to
- Support the creation of the strategic plan, key performance indicators (KPIs), and targets within all the lines of business in GTEP.
- Drive the execution and ongoing progress of the strategic plan within key business lines.
- Proactively identify and mitigate issues that could negatively impact the strategic plan, goals, targets and/or KPIs
- Track and present progress and results and if required, course of actions to ensure the targets are met
- Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to:
- Provide strategy development and advisory support; including research, analysis, issue identification and preparing compelling strategic recommendations that solve business problems.
- Create comprehensive project plans, coordinated with partners where applicable, to ensure deliverables and timelines are met by all work streams and members of the team.
- Gather relevant data, perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to diagnose issues, structure and create business models to assess future state benefits / costs.
- Present clear recommendations, and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes to senior leaders within the Bank.
- Manage Business Continuity Plans including testing and documentation required to adhere to the Bank’s guidelines
- Drive change management efforts by:
- Leading with an end-to-end mindset, where business, technology and operations are all considered when creating strategic plans, goals, targets and KPIs
- Ensuring and assisting in needs analysis and analyzing recommendations
- Communicating changes to workflows/procedures or new functions/processes to ensure full integration into the operational environment
- Identifying areas for improvement and assessing cost efficiency and risk
- Serving as a facilitator and relationship-builder among key partners with sometimes competing priorities by overseeing/coordinating partner socialization around major themes of change and proposed initiatives
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- You can demonstrate exceptional communication (written/verbal/presentation) skills.
- You have at least 5+ years of professional working experience at a management consulting firm(s) with banking industry expertise highly desired.
- You have highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, its partners, and external vendors.
- You have a proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management.
- You have experience in effective reporting and partner management.
- You possess exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business and country-specific issues.
- You are self-motivated; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams.
- You can deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment.
- You have completed a bachelor’s degree or have relevant experience.
