Purpose

 

Drive Scotiabank’s strategic growth in retail mutual funds distribution by supporting the development of the client segmentation strategy, management techniques, and performance metrics. This role will work collaboratively with Canadian Banking’s Retail Performance team, Retail Customer Team, and Global Wealth Management’s Scotia Financial Planning team to ensure alignment and to deliver a holistic ‘specialist advisor’ approach to advice delivery for the Canadian mass affluent client.
 

The National Lead, FAIR Strategy and Execution will be accountable for the following elements: 

  • Supporting the development of the client segmentation strategy, 
  • Practice management, including Financial Planning,
  • Performance and metrics,
  • Team performance, and
  • Recruitment, onboarding, and career pathing.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Leads and drives a client focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Support the development and implementation of a client segmentation strategy to grow Scotiabank’s retail mutual funds market share, (prospecting, client assignment, referral thresholds), collaboratively with Canadian Banking’s Retail Performance, Retail Customer Team, and Scotia Financial Planning leadership to manage investment and additional banking needs of assigned and unassigned clients. 
  • In conjunction with the VP of Retail Investment, define and monitor practice management behaviours and techniques to enhance client experience, maximize retention, and grow investment balances, (MFs, GICs, HISAs). This will include financial planning excellence (Advice+, Smart Investor), referral processes to Wealth Management Consultants (WMCs), and key KPIs for FAIRs, (proactive CRM, reactive services, SIS updating, proactive contact, financial planning and Smart Investor goals etc.).
  • Collaborate with Canadian Banking Retail Performance, Sales Practices, and SSI Compliance to influence and inform the design of a FAIR Scorecard and recommend Top Performer criteria to incentivize and retain high performers across the national FAIR team.
  • Oversee the national FAIRs team performance, jointly with Canadian Banking’s Retail Performance and Retail Customer teams, to meet national mutual fund gross sales goals and CARs goals. Develop recognition strategies for top performers and improvement strategies to support underperformers.
  • Create a recruitment, hiring, and onboarding strategy optimizing national best practices and adjust for local market nuances. Utilizing those strategies, collaborate with Canadian Banking Retail Performance, Retail Investment Team, and Scotia Financial Planning talent acquisition teams to optimize specialist advisor recruitment internally/externally and develop a career pathing strategy across those teams.
  • Utilize the Small Business Development Management support infrastructure and evaluate the strategic necessity and financial feasibility of developing a comparable infrastructure for the FAIR team. 
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team

  • Bachelor’s (equivalent or higher) degree
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, dealing with tight deadlines, solving challenging problems, balancing conflicting priorities, and manage multiple high priority projects, concurrently.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, leadership, and influencing capabilities with the ability to build trust and strong professional relationships with senior leaders across the business and the Bank
  • Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from a concept to change management
  • Exceptional presentation, written communication skills
  • Expert sales management skills and advanced practice management knowledge
