Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Regulatory Obligations Program globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Executes oversight on assigned business lines/corporate functions of Regulatory Library completeness, including regulatory change, that is evidenced through documented effective challenge and escalation, where appropriate.
- Provide continuous support to assigned business lines/corporate functions on the Enterprise Regulatory Obligations Program methodology and supporting tools driving usage of self-service learning and reporting.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement that challenges the status quo, identifies efficiencies and incorporates innovative thinking.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with ScotiaBond, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, and conduct risk.
- Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
Education/Experience
- University/Post secondary degree in Business or equivalent.
- At least 10-12 years of relevant experience in retail and small business risk management and /or internal audit covering all areas of retail credit life cycle.
- Working knowledge of the operations and regulatory environments for each unit as applicable.
- Proven ability to work in high levels of ambiguity and in a rapidly changing environment.
- Highly proficient at applying Scotiabank methodology and using risk-based auditing standards and practices.
- Strong analytical skills in the use of data analytics or visualization tools.
- Ability to supervise multiple projects at any given time.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong people management and coaching/development skills.
