The Lending Technology Development team is primarily responsible for the applications that support’s Scotiabank’s loan system. The team’s primary business partners are Automotive Finance and Unsecured Lending. Scotiabank is one of the top automotive finance lenders in Canada and the Solution Architect role will be pivotal to drive the growth forward and maintain our leading position in the marketplace through delivering innovative solutions for our automotive partners and customers.

As a Solutions Architect, you will play a key role in understanding the needs of our business, customers and developers and advise on enterprise grade scalable solution architecture. You will define and own, architecture road maps and experiment new emerging technologies to deliver industry leading automotive finance technology solutions. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Development, the Solutions Architect role will assist in the preparation of detail design specifications, estimation and integration solutions for new business applications, product enhancements and maintenance according to Bank’s Enterprise Architecture standards.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

•    Provide technical leadership and coding for FIS Profile software. 
•    Articulate solution ideas and strategies in structured walkthrough presentations of application systems to/with project team members and business stakeholders during various stages of the development process. 
•    Represent the application team, successfully with different BNS Teams and Technology Partners (Enterprise Architecture, Operational Readiness, information Security, Infrastructure teams etc) in design, requirements, solution review and to assist to maintain application steady state, software currency & security across Development, Test and Production environments of applications. 
•    Manage, analyze and present Performance and Capacity Planning to the team and other Information Technology & Solutions (IT&S) Solutions Architects on all systems supported. 
•    Act as an internal consultant and a trusted advisor to senior management and development teams on solution standards and design. Stay engaged and participate in all phases of the Agile development life cycle. 
•    Mentor and coach other team members on technical issues and solutions. 
•    Assist in the design, solution and estimation for automated test-driven strategies & execution. 
•    Investigating, analyzing and resolving system problems during standard working hours and assigned on-call hours. 
•    Escalating and/or reporting system problems to management as per the documented escalation procedures. 
•    Provide technology leadership to the development team ensuring that they adhere to the department’s technical strategy and assist in growing their technology expertise and knowledge. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

•    Strong knowledge for FIS Profile Tool is mandatory. Candidate should be able understand, update, create new code using FIS Profile Scripting language.
•    Strong knowledge for FIS Data Base – MUMPS is required. 
•    Able to access core FIS code through GTM and able to run various command to perform view, edit, delete functions. 
•    Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX (AIX platform) is required. 
•    Strong knowledge of SQL and Database is needed. 
•    Experience with Database connectivity (JDBC, JTDC) 
•    10+ years of hands-on technical experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer facing platforms. 
•    Able to work independently and can lead team of developers to deliver required output. Should be able to coordinate/manage overall delivery working with different teams (Business, QA, PM etc). 
•    Working knowledge/experience with web-based information technology principles including Cloud native, and Java-based System Architecture & System Integration methodologies. 
•    Experience with RESTful API integration, event driven architecture and vendor application integration and deep expertise with knowledge/experience of API management tools, design patterns and DevOps. 
•    Excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills are essential. 
•    Knowledge of Java/J2EE based development tools (like Spring Boot), DevOPs, SQL databases, Git repository etc
