Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate and Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.
The Role
We are seeking for a Technical Business Analyst to join our team to help manage the production support of Trade Floor Risk Management (TFRM) Reporting. This is a good opportunity to gain the exposure to risk management practices across multiple business lines/ market classes. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders including business partners in risk management, Compliance, IT, architecture and infrastructure, others to understand business needs and drive the analysis and design of high-quality technical solutions.
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to help advance TFRM reporting through streamlining and automating more of the data pipeline and providing solutions to help align both upstream and downstream teams; the candidate should have a keen interest in Capital Markets, be a problem solver and able to adapt to new technology to leave a lasting impact for Risk Technology groups at Scotiabank.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Candidate will be supporting migration project for reporting from Tableau to Power BI.
- Provide hands-on support to ensure timely production of the Risk Management reports
- Identify upstream and downstream dependencies; understand data workflows and database structures
- Work closely with stakeholders to assess the current and future states and perform detailed gap analysis; facilitate requirements gathering and discovery when necessary
- Highly motivated and committed, ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables with minimal guidance
- Flexible and able to thrive in evolving environment; willing to adapt quickly and adjust the workload accordingly.
- Excellent team player; eager to work with cross-departmental businesses & IT stakeholders
- Manage, elicit, analyze and document detailed-level business and functional requirements utilizing relevant user stories and artifacts
- Effectively communicate and build relationships within the Team as well as all the stakeholders across multiple LoBs
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Experience with a business reporting tool such as Tableau or Power BI – min 3 years’ experience
- SQL skills are required – min 3 years’ experience
- Technical knowledge with exposure to programming language such as Python, R for data preparation and analysis
- Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- 3 + years’ BA experience gathering requirements, designing methodologies, building test cases, executing test and supporting production system
- Ability to solve technical problems/ processes and understand complex details
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem solving and analytic skills
- Have project management and agile delivery experience would be an asset;
- Great team player with ‘can-do’ attitude.
